James Forrest

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Drakhan, Jul 25, 2015.

  1. Not bad if he can stay fit and perform.

For 25 he's quite an experienced player, won 8 trophies with us and has played 47 times in Europe.

His attitude was absolutely stinking for a while, and tbh, for that reason alone I think he should have been sold. Nobody should be allowed to choose which manager they play for, and when.

However, I also trust Brendan Rodgers, and if he can get Forrest playing in a way that keeps him pushing for a first team slot, then great. We would certainly have an exciting front line to choose from.

My fear, because of what he has shown previously, is that he downs tools again. I hope to be proved wrong on him, as there is no doubt that when he's in the mood he can be very useful.

  3. To be fair he never really down tools, as someone mentioned before up until December last season he was arguably our best player he just never really got a game again after than probably cause Ronny thought he was going to leave so never played him.

This is a table of our top performers from another website who vote on MOTM after each game and make a kind of table...

He only started 3 games from December onwards despite from August to November arguably being our best performer. Was never dropped for poor form.

I am one of his critics. I would have frog marched him out the door myself last season. No balls and a shirker. Now there is ability there, and I think no one doubts that. For me Wee Jimmy is much more frustrating than bid Sammy ever was. But if he has turned it round and Brendan gets the performance out of him. I would be the first to stand up and give him all the praise. Us football fans are very fickle, but it has to be remembered the players are even more fickle.

I remember seeing Brendan giving Sterling an earful for fannying about in training. I don't think he suffers fools gladly.

He has been watching Forrest closely for a couple of months now and likes what he sees. That's good enough for me.

Hmm. It would be pretty hypocritical of me to say id be delighted with him signing a new deal.

I still have major doubts over him. If Rodgers believes he can get the best of him then fair enough. Still wouldn't be a starter in my side.

Just hope his past couple games is not a flash in the pan.

Nice one mate, that's exactly what I'm talking about.

Him being dropped was definitely related to his contract situation but he did have some horrendous games at the turn of the year and deserved to be dropped.

Not the first player to get distracted with contract talks and wont be the last.

He wouldn't be a starter in my side either, not mid term anyway.

Sinclair and Roberts will surely occupy both wings when fit and healthy but having Forrest breathing down their necks benefits everyone.

I wouldn't have been bothered if he left, but as he's signed a new contract, I hope he has a great season for us. Hopefully get a nice bid for him in the future too.

  10. We should do a poll after each game as well... Will be interesting to see at the end of the season.

  11. Got a feeling James will have a good season for us

  12. I don't even mention it but it is embarrassing watching him and Armstrong constantly flicking the fringe. Especially before and after a * up, like a penalty miss :52:

So pansy. You'd get annihilated in Sunday league for that and rightly so..

Dunno how many folk were being genuine with the hair thing though. I said it a couple times but was completely tongue in cheek.

More his overall ability and attitude that I have questioned.

There are certain players within the squad that personally i don't rate, if BR can get the best out of them then great, after all a winning team playing good football is all that matters :celt_2:

  15. His neck was on the line for a while there.

Regarding that table provided, what website is it, and how many people are voting?

I could provide a table from this particular website, and I reckon the end statistics would read very different.

I'm not really looking too much into that table. I'm judging what I have personally witnessed from Forrest, and tbh he is a very lucky boy that he's still here.

As I said though, I hope Rodgers can get the player and attitude sorted, because when everything click's with him, he's a very dangerous player to have in your squad.

    Is that where it's been?

  19. Maybe it's a jealousy thing :54:

  20. If he can continue playing the way he has been this pre-season I'm fine with him staying. I do however feel we need another quality winger in. Forrest off the bench is a better option that him starting. His pace alone makes him a big danger against other teams, especially late in the game.
