He hasn't shown me anything so far to make me think he's a good player. Don't get me wrong, he's been fine but I don't think he looks very good defensively. More of a winger.

Lustig is our best full back and should always be played in his natural position unless there's an emergency. Which there isn't.

We can agree to disagree on Boyata but you've actually made a good point about Lustig standing in at CB, which I think is a good idea, he's certainly sure to be better there than Efe and Chico and then we can have Janko on the right.
That said I still think your blowing up Boyata's, understandable, mistakes/rustiness out of all proportion and not recognising his overall contribution since he's been here.

I'd still play him over efe. He's been good and he put us through to the next round. Hopefully he produces the goods on wednesday and yesterday was a learning curve.

Not denying Boyta has scored a couple of good headers, but it is his defensive work and lack of concentration for the full ninety minutes that is far more worrying. I think I would go along with Boyata being given more SPL games to get up to scratch if he can ?.

I'm looking at Virgil, and he already looks like he is getting * with Boyata beside him, as he is with Ambrose.
And I am beginning to think DoDaRonny is right, we might need to buy two good centre backs this window if Van * goes.

He played 180 minutes against Qarabag and was absolutely fine. Played very well in fact.

I have no worries at all about him this week, and I think it would be stupid to drop him.

Janko looks strong and extremely fast, I could see him making a big difference down that right wing on Wednesday, and it would be a curve ball Malmo would not expect us to throw. Lustig could easily step inside beside Van * and not be missed at right back with Janko there.

    As Scott Allan says " It's a No Brainer " :smiley-laughing002:

There's no way Janko should start at right back against Malmo. It would be a crazy decision. As I said, he doesn't strike me as much of a defender and you know what Izzy is like. Lustig provides a bit more defensive cover, while still being very good going forward.

Plus with Lustig at right back you have more height which is always good for set pieces.

If Van * goes we might be left with the two muppets Boyata and Ambrose :52:

You might not think it is an emergency. I happen to differ, I do.

Steady. It's like a cascade failure of confidence here. I still think Boyata is good enough to start for us on wed, the Lustig to CB idea is good but only for emergencies like injuries or something.
I think the whole point about Boyata's rustiness is that hes not tested as much in the SPL so that puts paid to that idea. He, like the rest of the team will raise their game for this tie. I don't see how folk are getting not just a bit nervous but like totally bricking it as if Malmo are a European superpower. Try to be positive guys, the signs so far aren't so terrible are they?

I wouldn't play Izzyguire either on Wednesday, he is another bombscare. Mulgrew at left back, Janko at right back.

:smiley-laughing002: For what? Correctly stating that you have no problem spelling huns names but you struggle with Celtic players names?

You knew what you were doing Daleer. You have spoken before that you would take a ban by calling me a Hun.you are a repeat offender Daleer.

If there is any justice on this forum, you should receive a ban and sit out the Malmo Game.
