You would rather keep a guy who is similar to others at the club but scores way less?

Ciftci is the style of footballer we need in our current formation.

He is a * but lets not pretend we have a team full of angels. It's how you focus it. Brown and Johanson have a bit about them but they chanel it into a positive. If we could do the same with Ciftci, he could be a steal.

Ciftci is the type of lone striker we need, whether it's him or another player we sign, that's the type of striker we need. Big, strong, quick, can hold up the ball or run the channels.

He's the kind of player we need; he's the kind of person we should be steering well clear of, imo.

Personal character and values count for a lot in football.

Heard a lot of the same arguments about John Hartson.

EDIT: Made the same point about Leigh Griffiths as well.

They're incomparable, imo. The incidents Ciftci's been involved in make Hartson look like Mother Theresa. On top of that, Hartson's character shone through when he played. He had a hard-working integrity about him. Ciftci does a lot of work on the pitch, but always looks negative, as though he's owed something, or like he's looking for some opportunity to con the referee.

It's true that Griffiths had similar off-field issues, but on the pitch his attitude was largely good when he was at Hibs. I do accept that players can come here with bad character traits and end up turning a corner - like Griffiths did - but if we can get a player of the same ability and style as Ciftci, but with better character, I'd take that option all day long.

Hartson booted a team mate in the face for no apparent reason, I don't think Ciftci has really done anything as bad as that.

I agree with the last bit as well, the guy is a * but I like him as a player.

Whats putting me off him is a lack of pace. I think we need a proper athlete up there in Europe as an alternative to Griffiths.

I watched Cameron Jerome yesterday for Norwich (not saying we should sign him, he's just a recent example) and he was excellent in that lone striker role. Physically dominant, ran the channels and a good bit of pace as well.

It was always my criticism of Hooper. Against the better teams he wasn't that focal point when we were in trouble. It's why Samaras, with his pace and strength was often up top himself.

I remember Emenike giving us a torrid time because every time the ball went up top he was using his pace in behind or battering centre halves off the ball.

Lack of pace? I think he's quite quick, not lightning quick but quick enough for his strengths. He's been the only person this season who has gave Van Dijk any sort of a game.

I don't think he's going to run away from anyone in the Champions League. Might be wrong.

I'm not sure how his temperament would hold out at a big club like us. He seems to be a bit of a fruit loop, and now he's biting *.

A move to Celtic, and the pressures that come with it, might see him getting sectioned.

I said before, I don't think he's any better than what we currently have, granted he's a different type of player, but not good enough imo.

His showboating * is quite embarrassing too. He's not exactly equipped for that, and I could see him being a problem.

Pre biting or Post Biting, I still wouldn't take him. He has ability but don't see him fitting into our style of play.

He's the type of player that if we don't sign, then Sevco will. That's not a reason for us to sign him though!

I think he'd do a job and definitely has potential. If anyone can sort him out personality wise, I believe Deila may well be the man. He'd also fit in well with Armstrong and Mackay-Steven too. :50:

If we did sign him he'd either be a complete failure and be out by January, or would probably be a lot better than what would be expected.

Personally I think sevco will sign him, and I really don't want to see us play against him in a sevco top. Not because he's a good player (I think he's * actually) but because he's a * animal! remember what he did to Broony? just think what he'd do to our players whilst playing infront of their disgusting, vile, bigoted fans

Plus he'd probably be told before the game to break as many legs as possible

I'd fancy my 13 year-old, arthritis-riddled golden retriever against Mertesacker.

I think I would prefer Greg Stewart as a player he's more sturdy and professional plus we'd be showcasing Scottish talent :3
