This is an absolute disgracefully decision by the SFA to postpone the Rangers-Gretna game. To use cold war rhetoric, this is not a zero sum game. There are winners and losers.

The winners in this decision are Rangers, the losers Celtic. Had the game not been postponed Rangers would have had another game to pick up injuries, thereby hurting their CL aspirations and since there non-qualification (and our qualification) would put extra CL money in our pockets, this clearly amounts to another instance of the football hierarchy protecting their friends in blue.

This is not paranoia. This is no small matter. This is a decision made in full knowledge of the facts and its ramifications and consequences

Celtic should lodge an immediate, formal and vehement protest.

Celtic could, and should, have asked. Talk about paranoia.

Only reason their game is postponed is they asked, we didn't.

If Celtic had asked the same time as the huns (well considering our fixture is sooner, maybe last week) we would have got the same, but we didn't. Theres no bias here, the worlds' not out to get us - * like this is pathetic.

The SFA are thinking about the coefficient and are open to requests like that. If there is a bias with the SFA, its towards both Old firm clubs.

We should be happy, they can't reject us now.

Just means they have an extra game to fit in later in the season.....may be to our advantage in the end...

just imagin though, they get humped of lyon and are no longer in the champions league and they lose the re-scheduled game to gretna some cold winter monday night or something in * gretna

it could work out to our favour, its not like they gave rangers 3 points and said we'll just give use an automatic 5-0 win because you are playing in the champions league, they'll still need to play this game, might be at a later and maybe even more inconvienent point

    your just being para

Why are you all getting to upset about this decision?

    THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!!

We now have 2 home games against St Mirren and Falkirk before Rangers play again. So we could (and should) be 7 points clear by that time.

During December we have 4 home games (St Mirren, Falkirk, Hibs and Gretna) and 2 away (Dundee Utd and Inverness). Not exactly the toughest run of games is it? So I fully expect us to have a healthy lead before we stuff those * at New Year.

That wil be the reasoning behind it plus the fact that we're a younger, fitter team than Rangers are and can handle the 3 in a 6 day period.

I think this decision has happened because Smith has used his contacts within the SFA from his time as National Boss to sound out the possibility before actually putting in a request.

Given that there is no precedent for domestic games being moved to accommodate one clubs Euro tie, it is unlikely that Celtic would have been aware of it's possibility.

However, it seems less than an accident that the Huns made the request at such a time as the timescale for Celtic to make a similar one (ie the game away to hearts, considerably tougher than Gretna) became unrealistic.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I do understand where the rhetoric comes from when things like this happen.

The General Manager from Lyon was on today saying that it would never happen in France as it may give an advantage over other domestic teams. This could be a dangerous precedent. Imagine next season if Celtic have a game away to Rangers then at home in the Champs League the following midweek, do you think they would agree to postpone the fixture for ''the good of Scottish football''. Me thinks not.

I really think the only reason this happened is due to fact that the SFA would look totally hypocritical if they said no after They postponed both games before the Italy match. Next time we should ask now stop being a paranoid *.

I think games should be shunted by a couple of days ie instead of making a team play on a Sunday when they have a CL game on Wednesday make them play on a Saturday or even Friday. This would give the team 4-5 days to prepare for the CL. Doing well in the CL makes Scottish football look good so i'm all in favour of that.

What i'm not in favour of is moving the league game after the CL game. Teams in the CL earn lots more extra money with which they can improve and enlarge their squads to make them better than the rest of the league. Celtic and Rangers have to deal with fixture congestion like any other big club, it's the nature of the beast.

I can't see why a pro team should postpone a certain game? who are they playing in the spl? real madrid? you hardly see any countries or teams postponing their games, otherwise every schedule would go mad.

can't name a good reason why the sfa should do it. bunch of *, but that won't save them either...

I disagree, I think a tough game a few days before a big game is perfect. That's my opinion. I know we didn't want to risk more players, especially in the defence from injury but I reckon best warm up for a big match is another big match.

I find it funny and sad that rangers asked to prospone their game against Gretna.

Not quite true. Celtic have asked twice in the past and were told to * off basically. The first time against Hearts in the sixties when the Celtic players arrived home at 3.00am on the day of the game after playing Dynamo Kiev. Celtic lost 3-2.

The second time was much later,2003. Celtic requested that the huns game was postponed after playing Boavista. Rangers knocked back their request. Celtic won this one.

I've no doubt if Celtic had requested a postponment against Hearts on Saturday either Hearts or the SPL would have told them to * off, no doubt quoting Setanta as the reason.
