Told me he loved Moscow other than the traffic, and he likes Merseyside so far.

Completely agree. GMS seems exempt from criticism while Forrest and others get dogs abuse at every little mistake . Same situation with Johansen who has been sloppy in the last couple of games but people are falling over themselves to make excuses for him .

I think GMS' work rate is a major factor in him getting less stick. If he isn't playing his best at the very least he is giving his all for the team , which can hardly be said for Forrest. James may have scored an important goal or two lately but he hasn't played very well and doesn't offer the defensive effort of a GMS , which makes him appear lazy and less of a team player.

For a 250 k player I think GMS has been a revelation so far , especially when compared to an apparent 10 m player. Seriously GMS was seen by most to be a squad player but in reality there is very little between these two.

Both should be playing for me and an off form Armstrong should be rested to accommodate them. I think this is the combo Ronny wants ultimately anyway , GMS right , Forrest left as he likes the inverted wide players and pace in those areas.

Great impact player, and I think he'll do well at Celtic.

But he was pushed out of the game at Inverness, really. There is still a wee concern that he will struggle on those heavy pitches when teams stick 10 men behind the ball.

My theory is that he is such a "nice guy" that he let the injury of the Inverness keeper colour his game.

Always forget then get annoyed when I realise he can't play in the Scottish Cup for us, him and Armstrong would rip Falkirk apart.

Well guys, what's the general consensus on GMS?

I always thought he was the better player of the two you signed in January and he seems to be living up to that, looking forward to seeing him in a Scotland jersey.

Was gutted when he left and we are now in free fall, hope Jackie gets time to turn things around as losing his two pacy impact players has hardly been his fault.

Truth be told mate i was expecting more from Armstrong but GMS has been top notch

I was expecting Armstrong to be able to slot in behind the striker when Johansen was being rested but he has not stepped up

GMS has got great work rate & has also been scoring goals

    Welcome to the forum :bbpd:

I think GMS has definitely hit the ground running a bit better than Armstrong. He's really impressed me by how hard he works for the team as obviously his on the ball strengths were well known prior to him arriving. Was he this hard working at Dundee Utd or is there perhaps a trait that Deila has brought out in him?

I think both GMS and Armstrong will prove to be big successes both at Celtic and internation level. Both passed their biggest test yet (Inter Milan) with flying colours, but it's probably been a bit hard for them to fully settle and integrate as being cup tied has meant they've been in and out of the team and no doubt that has been tough for them in terms of building momentum. I'm sure with more time to adapt, a full preseason and further game time, both GMS and Armstrong will be big players for us next season.

GMS has been great, I didnt want us to sign him but he's been superb. One of the best aspects about him is he gets into the box a lot, he always makes runs from the wing into the centre of the box or peels in from the wing into a striker position a lot, none of our other wide players really do that. Could see him scoring a good 12-16 goals a season for us, especially when you add in he's got a good strike from the edge of the box as well.

I like Armstrong as well, only problem for him as he is competing with Johansen for his best position so most likely will not get to play there, he is good in Brown's position too but again he's not going to get a game there so will most likely always play on the left even though its probably his 3rd best position. I like Armstrongs ability on the ball and work-rate, also a strong player.

    Both very good signings.

Thanks for the welcome, yeah GMS has always tracked back etc and he has get composure in front of goal, unfortunately for the other teams in the league I think he will be even better next season for you guys, fully settled in and had a pre season with his team mates etc.

Armstrong will come good, he's only 23 and still has the potential to improve, another who can take a goal.

GMS is our best buy since Van Dijk I think. You could argue Johansen, but we paid more for him. It's a bit crazy we didn't go for him sooner instead of getting Tonev, Berget and Wakaso on loan :52: Utd would have got a better deal too

Definitely been more impressed with GMS, though Armstrong has mostly been shifted out left.

His work rate is excellent. A full pre season with RD and he could be a beast next season.

Welcome Arab, GMS is a smashing player and has settled much quicker than Armstrong. Well pleased with both signings and think we got them very cheap. I am looking forward to seeing more from Armstrong next season as I think he is a very intelligent player!:50:

He has been very good for us mate, which is not a surprise. I was crying out for us to sign him for ages, and I was delighted when we finally did. I agree with you as well about him being the better of the two. Delighted with how quickly he has settled, which has probably been helped by the fact we also signed Armstrong. Hopefully we will see an even better player next season after a full pre-season under Deila, because one thing that both players mentioned not long after signing, was how they would need to get to the same level fitness wise as the rest of our squad, and I've no doubt that both of them will. Both seem very level headed as well, which never does any harm.

I've been well surprised with him and I am happy to eat humble pie.

He has been excellent on the whole. A right wee grafter, skillful, fast and an eye for goal.

Very happy to have him here.

This is definitely a big positive and for me is a good reason for plucking the best of Scottish talent. I'd definitely rather have the attitudes of GMS and Armstrong in our squad than the prima donna attitiude of many foreign imports, such as Guidetti.

There is no question that both GMS and Armstrong have hit the ground running and done very well since signing in January. With a bedding in period already done and a full pre-season behind them I can see them becoming absolutely vital players for us next season. I have to say while I was happy enough when we signed them I never expected them to be so good so quickly for us.
