    No.

Did we have the quality to beat Barca? Or Milan? or most of the sides in recent times we have faced in the champions league mainly? No.

Although this side now might not have the same attitude or manager as others in the past, we still have a chance. They are nothing special and if our players turn up we could cause an upset.

I'm not holding my breath but it's by no means impossible.

Icardi could very easily be away by the end of this month, Chelsea and Liverpool looking at him.

I'd probably rate inter a slight bit better than us, but it's definatly possible. Don't like to put faith in one player, but it's a great boost that guidetti sill be eligible.
Lets not forget the shambolic group games, pessimistic yes, but I'd say we were lucky to qualify

    He definitely won't.

As for the question, it's not impossible. We aren't what we once were, but we're getting our * together under Mancini, and with Podolski and Shaqiri (although only 1 of them will play against you lot), things are looking up for the first time in a long time for us.

As I said in the other thread, if you've got any questions about players, tactics or playing style, ask away.

Aye, we also beat them in 2004 but that doesn't mean anything. It's the squad and how we play now that matters. If we beat Inter I think it will be on away goals.

they have just signed podolski and shaqiri from Bayern, so I think they will be stronger by the time we play them

We definitely can, but it's not likely. The guy who said that it's possible but he's not holding his breath summed it up for me.

At the end of the day playing teams like this is the whole point of entering these tournaments and anything can happen in a one-off game.

An overall win is more in hope than realism!! But is that not why we support a team? You have always got to have hope!!!Keep the faith!!!And Charity stays at home!!!

I really couldn't say, as scottish football isn't the thing I follow most.

The way you usually play us with success, is high and close pressuring and targeting the right wing, as we're suspect defensively there (with Nagatomo or Dodo playing there and Kuzmanovic playing in front, not as much of a problem with Jesus).
In general, our centrebacks have looked very isolated and weak, with very little covering from the midfield. I suspect this will get better, if we start playing a Medel-M'Vila tandem. The reason we haven't before, has been a lack of offensive players (at most 4) on the field at a time, meaning the midfielders focusing more on their offensive duties than the defensive side of things.

Lock down Hernanes and Kovacic, and we basically have no one to provide Icardi and/or Palacio anything in the last third of the field. If Osvaldo plays (rumors of him leaving because of a bust-up during the Juve game), this is not as much of a problem.
Anyhow, this will definitely get better with Shaqiri and Podolski to create something on their own, so we have different outlets and options instead of the same two every game.

That sounds like it would suit the way we play if we can do it at a higher level.

Aye Osvaldo after the final whistle against Juve, rather than shaking hands, he went racing off the pitch and up the tunnel for a few words with the boy that was subbed.

I always back us to win - we will do them!

Mancini's record in Europe is pisspoor, they are having squad bust ups at the moment (Osvaldo takin the huff) and we always raise our game for the big boys. A win at home and a draw away will see us through...

We'll huff and puff and attempt to blow their house down..I still think we'll lose by a margin of at least two...they'll get two lucky chances (penalty, * defending by us) and prob score two goals. This is even if they are on a run of bad form. We never seem to do well against teams that are OFF form but rather those who are on!

I just can't see man for man where we better them. Unless there's a significant improvement in games in the next few weeks and our strikers start scoring goals again I don't see us coming back with a victory i'm sad to say.

Virgil van Dijk is better than any of their centre halves. I think our best full-backs Lustig and Izzy are at least as good as theirs, but that may be a more controversial opinion. Handanovic is a fantastic goalie, but so is Gordon so I would put us about equal in that department as well. They have the edge on us in every other position in my opinion but we can beat them on a good day.

Individually we might have a good goalkeeper and defenders, but as a unit we're unstable as * in defense.
