Bangura can't be far away. He was awful.

He could have been a top player for us, i really believe that. That is why i mentioned him because of the money we spent on him and we have seen nothing in return. A massive disappointment.

I don’t know about you lot but I tend to think the worst signings are the one who the manager sticks with medium to long term even though everyone can see they are pathetic.

Bangura, Balde, Miku are good shouts but they were punted into the long grass pretty quickly by the management team. They didn’t do too much damage.

They were gambles that didn’t pay off. Plenty others did.

Going back a bit further Regi Blinker had lost his confidence going past players left side of a 4-3-3, so Jansen had to give up on him for the season. The following season he became an outstanding CM player for Joseph Venglos in a 3-5-2.

The worst in the last 10 years, in no particular order, were Caldwell, McManus (YT product but even so), Naylor, J V of H, Georgios Samaras. There is a common denominator in there – Strachan. I dreaded watching the 3 members of that worst back 4 in football. In the Scottish league, OF ALL * PLACES, where strength and power are everything, and where skill and ability are secondary, sometimes even undesirable, the 2 CB’s in particular, weren’t strong enough, fast enough or tall enough. They were constantly getting sent off for last man tackles, not because they were dirty players, but because they were second to every ball. I grew to hate them and the man picking them.

Which bring me neatly to our WORST signing of the last 10 years, Gordon Strachan. This past weekend at Tannadice, his reputation restored and being as nippy as ever, commented upon hearing the Celtic fans cheering his name that he wishes they would have done that when he was manager.

How is it possible to win 3 out of 4 league titles and come to this conclusion I hear you ask? In every match we were out fought, out passed and out classed. Just when you thought it was hopeless, Scott McDonald would get us a last 5 minute reprieve. Everyone was relieved but it wasn’t a long term strategy. I dreaded the next match because I just knew we would come a cropper.

I would rather Celtic always play a 4-4-2, but he played such a formation, when every signing he made suited 4-3-3. Nakamura spent 4 years getting the ball on the right and passing it inside. My da’s a left peg. He could have done that and he’s in his 60’s.

Brown could have played his old Hibs game (where I still say he played his best football), Riordon could also have played his old Hibs game on the inside left. Gravesen and Jarosik would have benefited. McGeady would have been better at inside right.

Imagine a team: Boruc in goals

Back 4 – Hinkel, Bobo Balde, O’Dea, Jose Goncalves (hypothetical signing from Hearts)

Middle 3 – Hartley sitting behind the ball, Brown going box to box with Nakamura no. 10

Front 3 – McGeady Inside right, Riordon, Inside left and a new and improved Samaras at number 9 with a proper haircut, some boxing lessons (to get him used to physical contact) and solid instructions NEVER to come deep and NEVER to go wide and ALWAYS play with your back to goal. Scoring a * load of bread and butter goals would have been the making of Samaras.

That would be a beast of team.

In the unlikely event that Gordon Strachan actually reads this rant, eh, I mean post, if you are beginning to feel better about yourself, then know THAT IS TEAM I WANTED TO * SEE. HOW COULD YOU NOT SEE THAT?

Now low and behold Scotland play exactly like that. * me.

Like the Rangers, I’m bitter as *

You know I find it quite sad that posters use perfectly respectable threads such as this to let out long pent up rants. Perhaps you are the same?

Banging in goals for Ipswich does not make you good enough to play for Celtic

Mizuno? Come on, folk seem to think he was a Pukki or Bangura, he done ok- two games stick out; debut and first goal v Falkirk and 1-0 (Skippy winner) v Oldco the next week. Was he even given much more of a chance post New Year?

His potential compared to how he actually turned out makes him a flop. If you buy the finest marks and spencer turkey for your xmas dinner today and it comes out dry, , burnt and tasting like fish....you've got a flop on your hands.

What im saying is koki mizuno is a dry kipper. Take those words of wisdom forward with you my child.

    I was joking but ok.

I'd rather be a bully than a racist sexual predator with woman issues.

Dirk Boerrigter would have to be up there, would't he? I remember watching him limp off in his first game with us, and wondering why, with his history of injury with Ajax, we'd have taken the risk with him. A great athlete, but too finely tuned; not robust enough to be an effective week to week footballer.

It was a pity about Murphy. He just wasn't effective when he played with us. On this forum, he was often referred to as a traffic cone. I'd like to have given him more time, but wasn't surprised when he was moved on. He's definitely doing much better with Ipswich. HH
