Only problem with him is he is over-priced. He is a decent player but he's not as good as Johansen who only cost £2million, Armstrong should really only cost £1m-1.3m but Dundee Utd seem to want £2million and now we've * them with GMS they will probably definitely want £2million from us and he's not worth that.

At best we'll probably have to get him to hand in a transfer request or go off his nut and get him for £1.5million.

Can agree with us maybe peeing off Utd, but I'd love to get him. For me he's better than Johansen, IMHO.

Well I agree with him. We've let far too many Scottish talents slip through our fingers when their asking price has been next to * all. Same will probably happen here.

he's worth whatever the selling club value him at. £2million is a * bargain in my opinion. Johansen should have been worth a lot more than £2m in my opinion also. We got him for a bargain price

We want him but we wont pay the money , standard . He will go to Engalnd and have a good career down there becoming a consistent EPL performer valued at 10-15 million quid ( McCarthy , McCarthur , Fletcher ) and he will be well out of our reach . By far the best young midfielder in Scotland, another one we will regret not stumping up a couple of million quid for .

Don't disagree he's a great young player but maybe someone can help me with this one.

If, as he says, Ronny wants a working squad of 22 players, which means no 'number fillers', and accepting that Armstrong wouldn't sign for us without regular footie, where does he fit into the team? Who drops out? Does he fill the No. 10 slot and if so does that mean Johansen plays midfield with Broonie, or does Armstrong sit in the midfield and Johansen is the No.10?

Is he too similar to Johansen, so the latter becomes surplus to requirements?

Either way it definitely means no room for Commons so he'll be away.

    I think Johanson was undervalued.

Pay utd £2m it's a decent fee all round. We seem reluctant to give anyone in the league a penny and spend huge amounts on foreign pish. Millions on Bangura, Balde et al. I know there is others that we could name that were foreign successes but there's no denying that we should've forked out the same for Fletcher, McCarthy etc.

There's talent right under our noses and at value. Yet we always overlook it.

Mackay-Steven is the first player we've got from the spl for ages.

And GMS isn't even one of the best that's been in the SPL in the last 5 year. It's absolutely crazy how many players have slipped through our fingers.

Well i don't see Armstrong as being just simply offering a certain amount of cash and the deal is done. I guarantee if we offered United £3million tomorrow, they'd take all that publicity and ridicule us in the press about it and use that to push the price up.

So the likes of Aberdeen and United are gonna be hellish to do business with. You only need to look at Jackie MacNamara's reaction to us signing GMS to get a feel for the vibe they send out.

This is why i would be far more wary of players they are bringing in on like a year's deal and then sticking on a long contract.

It's just the way it is.

Right now there are deals to be done, but i wouldn't be surprised if we bid for Armstrong around £3million and they just laughed it off.

It's worth doing, but really nobody knows the price.

If they are being daft about it, it's maybe a deal that can wait. If it happens we'd all be massively delighted, if not we need to move on and look at others.

It seems to me that "small" clubs were more flexible to deal with when Zombies were around because they had no ambition. Now they believe that they have a shoot at challenging us so it would be really stupid to sell their star players to their direct rivals.

I agree that we should look more at Scottish players from our league. Scottish players can learn, they can get better. It's not like we need to chose players from Sunday league clubs.

It could be tough to get him in anytime soon if macnamaras moaning is anything to go by!
Good player though and one I wouldn't mind to see in the Hoops!
Anyone know when his contract's up?

Armstrong can play either side of the number 10. With bombing full backs we don't need wingers anyway, more inside forwards

Not if we, for once, offer a fair fee for a player.

I think Lawwell (i'm not usually over critical of him) wishes everyone he negotiated with had similar negotiation skills as Dean '* *' Jones.

His contract is up in 2016. I have a feeling he won't sign a new contract. He may feel it's time to move on.

I only think it'd are playing hard ball with gms to prove that they aren't pushovers.

Wasn't really hardly with GMS. They wanted 250k. That's potentially a steal.

Stuart has offers from wolves and birmingham and is being trailed by cardiff and west brom . He WOULD come to celtic but Celtic have told his agent they dont have the money to pay the transfer fee . not sure if this is gamesmanship on celtics behalf or maybe we need to offload first .

By the way he says GMS is buzzing about signing for us .

I meant their hostility about it and not budging on that fee.

I agree, it's pennies. Just pay it.

    How do you know this?
