That may well be true regarding tonight but against top class international opposition particularly in tournaments he is always found wanting, if I'm not mistaken his goal record in Tournaments is rank rotten.

A very good player at club level but no world class, that's an overused expression in any case, a few more goals and some will be referring to Scepovic as world class.

About time McGuire was banned, disgraceful stuff from him.

As an Englishmen, id like to think Scotland would have taken a loss tonight if it meant beating the Irish. Hope the scots qualify for the Euros, nothing but respect for the team bar a few players and of course respect to the manager and the fans.

Should look more at how England managed to move the ball so easily in a tight area, despite having enough Scottish bodies to prevent it.

Scotland are just a poor, poor team. Been getting some good results in the qualifiers but that's been due to hard work against extremely average players.

Far too slow and predictable with no attacking threat and a poor defence. We're badly needing a striker who can actually put the ball in the back of the net. Fletcher isn't doing it, Chris Martin looks utter pish and Rhodes can't get a call up. Who is there? Don't know why McCormack isn't getting a game either.

In terms of the defence, the only defender worth his place is Robertson who is a cracking wee player. The two centre halves and a the right back are *. Hutton or Whittaker, 6 and half a dozen with those two clowns.

And the way we pin our hopes on Anya is getting pathetic. The most overrated player in the Scotland squad since Charlie Adam. Pundits and some fans are wetting their knickers because he can actually run, unlike most of our players. He has a tendency to run the ball out of the pitch far too often and his final ball is usually lacking.

We need some fresh faces. Johnny Russell played well when he came on, he's a player who should be starting, or even Stevie May.

The only bit of that post I could disagree with is the bit about Anya, the rest is spot on. We're * at the back and extremely dull and predictable going forward. Why the * does Rhodes not get a game by the way?

England played at a intensity that was outwith Scotland's capabilities. The pressed the game all over the park and forced the errors. Scotland simply don't have enough ball players to cope with that, and it showed. The only real out ball was Anya, and after he beat Clyne with his first touch of the ball, that was the one and only time he did. Clyne was just far too good for him, as were England in general to be honest.

One thing I did learn from that game is why no top level club has taken a gamble on Anya. Maybe that will stop people from constantly asking "Why isn't he playing for a SPFL/lower EPL side?"

Clyne sussed him out very early in the game. He did beat him first chance he got, but after that, he looked out of his depth.

Another question I have to ask following the Ireland & England game is why Strachan persists with Chris Martin. What exactly has he done to warrant being picked ahead of the likes of May or even Griffiths?

Because he's got a better than 1 in 2 record in the Championship while Leighnald doesn't even get off of the bench at Celtic most of the time and Stephen has a 1 in 5 record in the same league as Christopher? Kristoffer's performances while playing for Scotland is another issue entirely.

No it doesn't really. He done it agaisnt Germany, it's not a case of you can't do it against England then you're *.

The way we played didn't suit him last night, I think that is down to Fletcher being out, who drags defenders about and allows him to use his pace to get in behind.

Also, Clyne is a fantastic young player in my opinion, he has a huge future ahead of him.

Well, if Chris * Martin and Steven Fletcher are the best we have we're going to have issues scoring goals.

Dev, there's a reason why why at 26 years old he's had 10 clubs and never really established himself as a top flight player. That reason is most likely the very reason why none of the top flight clubs are looking to take a shot on him.

So much for the English fans not being political anymore  as some England fan was going about on here not so long ago. Quite a few English fans giving * salutes yet the papers don't report that... what a surprise.
