    Let The People Sing

It was obvious that making a noise through the silence would have * writing about the club in a bad light and it has. I have seen articles on news websites and videos doing the rounds on facebook (which probably will get more views than the news).

I think last year the people that didnt agree just avoided it. Not 1 person could find a fault with the club for that and as such couldnt spread negative * about the club. I just dont like seeing bad publicity brought upon the club.

Its not just about them having an opinion or being allowed to talk ,its about showing respect to the country you are in and those around you.
There is a time and a place for everything, and people certainly do not show any kind of respect by screaming or singing when people are remembering loved ones lost.

You should show respect for the country you are in and those around you; you shouldn't be required to show respect for everything they did! Remember, this is deaths in the military we are talking about. I personally agree that the right time and place for such protests is not whilst people are remembering their dead (and I think the majority of our fans do too), but we have no right to dismiss as idiots those who think that an event where the dead of the British Army are being remembered at a Celtic match is exactly the right time, especially if they (unlike me) have lost loved ones at their hands (or know someone who has).

    It's definitely gotten worse over the past few years. In the words of Noam Chomsky;

"If you believe in freedom of speech, you believe in freedom of speech for views you don’t like. Goebbels was in favor of freedom of speech for views he liked. So was Stalin. If you’re in favor of freedom of speech, that means you’re in favor of freedom of speech precisely for views you despise."

An excellent writer, vastly underrated and criminally ignored by many.

Really not sure how i feel about the whole poppy thing to be honest, would hate for a guy to be screaming next to me over the minutes silence BUT at he same time reeks of double standards in not allowing political banner items to games and then forcing a minutes silence on everyone.

how do we fix this ?

So you have to observe a minutes silence for Britain's war dead while you can get arrested and charged for singing songs about irish war dead, the celtic fans should have sang ' the roll of honour' to a man during the minutes silence

I think its "fixing" itself by that I mean, I thought yesterday would have resulted in a * of a lot more booing, going by what I have read on here anyway, than was heard. So given it was an away game and that the away support is "supposed" to be more rebellious it was observed overall.

"Police Scotland said two men, aged 32 and 55, were charged with assault following a disturbance in the away fans section during the silence.

Another two men, aged 24 and 29, were arrested elsewhere in the stadium for unrelated offences."

So it wasn't four Celtic fans arrested for shouting. It was two Celtic fans arrested for assault, and two (probably) Aberdeen fans arrested for something unrelated.

Spot of fact checking would come in handy before rushing to judgments, both in the media and on forums / social media outrage.

Hold on lets first of all be realistic here all conflicts have good and bad on both sides, right, even Evil movements have many good people caught up in it and even none evil movements have a number of bad people in them, think about it.

As for what happened at Aberdeen, well those fellow Celtic supporters that refused to stay silent have done no favours for our club, not one.But it has tarnished our image yet again.

The 2 main reasons why people are at the weekend is the First And 2nd World Wars, without so many brave soldiers none of us would be here today, infact the world would be a very different place,it would be a far worse place. Not than any decade, era or century can ever be perfect.

Glad that is cleared up. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion from the start.

WHO GIVES A FLYING * ABOUT OUR IMAGE?

We've been doing alright for over a century and a quarter, why do we now have to start toeing the line?

Someone else missing the irony of celebrating the defeat of fascism by telling people what to think and how to act.

Aye, I'll be honest, the image of the club takes a back seat when it comes to this issue for me. It's always going to be a stick to beat Celtic with in my opinion, the same discussions will be taking place next year, and the year after that and so on regarding this.
