  1. In the Champions League and going well in the league but not in the league cup? I'm aware you said domestically but I'm talking about the big picture.

Last season we had our spine ripped out and we were trying to cope with that and doing it well, this year we've had The coaches, manager, Forster and Sammy away.

I think that a good manager should be able to cope with the demands at Celtic. Right now we aren't. I don't think Ronny should leave but I think he needs to show vast improvement.

  2. Pretty much sums it up for me this, in the next couple of months there has to clear improvement.

As in if there is no improvement I don't want him to have a January transfer window to bring in players.

  3. If we somehow contrive to lose the league it would be the worst failure in the entire history of competitive sport, it's not going to happen.

The 2nd and 3rd biggest and best teams int his league, by a huge distance, are Aberdeen and Dundee Utd and we've already put 8 goals past them this season despite not putting in one good 90 minute performance yet.

The teams who have taken points off us are not teams who will be threatening the top 2 or 3 positions. Losing to Hamilton, or Killie, or St Mirren or Caley is annoying of course, but ultimately it's irrelevant.

If we lose 2 or 3 games each to Aberdeen and Utd, that's when panic buttons can be pressed.

If we sack Deila now then we really will be in the *. I can't think of a single good manager who would take us over at this point and team morale would go even further down the *.

  4. If we lost the league I'd have to laugh through sheer embarrassment :56:

Runners up to accies , right now that would be an achievement..

  5. As I said mate, domestically, I would rather have started like we have this year than last. Come the end of the Europa League group stage, I might even be happier on a European front than last year also.

We have been in decline for the past 2 seasons, no doubt about that in my opinion. Even though we romped the league last year, the team we had the year previous was a better side. Players like Ledley, Wanyama & Hooper have never been properly replaced. Deila took over an inferior team to the one that barely qualified last year for the Champions League, and then got thumped in the Group Stages. He also got the square root of hee haw to try and get us back to the top table, and faced tougher teams this season compared with last in my opinion.

I don't think he has the full backing of the dressing room either, and it is worrying to hear the club captain saying that players were hiding on the park on Sunday to an extent he has never seen before.

  6. I disagree that he took over an inferior team than the start of last season, the rest is pretty much spot on though.

Start of last year we were absolutely reeling with having our spine ripped out of the team, by the end of the year Lenny had replaced that and we were putting together good performances and good results. When we struggled by in the Champions League we were reeling with no Wilson, no Wanyama and no Hooper. Something our previous year we relied upon as the spine of the team.

We have been in decline from the peak of the last 16, that's something I pin squarely on the board. However, that doesn't excuse the performances on the pitch. The team that Ronny inherited was perfectly capable of stringing results together, while we were in a state that was re-building. I keep coming back to this, bottom line for me is we need to show improvement on the pitch with the materials he has at hand.

  7. Accies will never achieve anything IMO. If Aberdeen or Dundee Utd won the league and if they qualified for the CL group stages with all that money, then (gutted though I'd be for us) it could be the best thing to happen to Scottish football in decades.

I'll probably get pelters for saying that but just imagine if Aberdeen had the income and CL football to attract real quality players.

  8. Honestly, we've wasted so much money no wonder we can't afford a decent manager. I can't see the fans coming back whilst Deila, Collins and Kennedy are in charge. Nothing about Deila is exciting - the team is trying, but nobody is comfortable with this system which has really been forced upon them. 2 lucky results in the Europa covers the cracks, right up until we get knocked out a cup or something - at which point i bet he still wouldn't get sacked. We'll get cliche's and excuses, but not the management team a club like Celtic deserves. We just wouldn't want to pay out compensation, it's bad right now and it's been headed this way for a while.

We'd be as well having John Park as the manager, he seems to pick the transfer targets anyway. The untouchable John Park who serves up more duds season after season. Hidden behind like a 1 in 3 success rate.

  9. Mayb in decline in terms of squad strength but never in terms of domestic performance. We have a very similar squad this year and we wont finish with 99 points. Last year Aberdeen were particularly impressive and dundee utd were decent too. This season a newly promoted team look the strongest side so far.

  10. Of course they won't, I'm at it with that, done great so far mind..

It will never happen, so long as we receive a pittance in this country and clubs can't and won't hold on to there best players, that includes us to an extent..

  11. I would say the team that got to the last 16 was a far stronger team than last year's side. However, our domestic performance in the last 16 season was nowhere near as good as last year, where we were totally outclassed in Europe. The bottom line is, as long as we go on and win the league, it's ultimately job done. Whether that be by 1 point or 30 points. Aberdeen couldn't finish above Motherwell last season, so they weren't really that impressive. A Motherwell team that will have spent far less than them also I would have thought.

  12. If we lose this weakened league it will be the worse disaster in the history of our club, and would probably set us back years financially, reputation and confidence wise.

The worrying thing is Deila seems sublimely insulated and detached from this possibility, and is treating these set backs and being sixth in the league rather lightly to me, too lightly in fact, and that worries me the most about him, he dozen't seem to understand the history of the club and is devoid of any affinity or attachment to Celtic FC, so losing the league would seem not to affect him too much, whereas it would be a monumental catastrophe for us.

  13. I agree with the highlighted but i wouldnt say there has been an ever worsening rate of decline. We were weakened by our player sales- Wanyama, Hooper, Ledley, Wilson.. no doubt. But after that we never got worse as last season developed, we just performed with what we had.

I agree with you that its tough to play on different competitions and maintain a strong domestic front. But in my opinion the Celtic Deila took over wasnt any weaker then our squad last January. And yet our domestc performance has slumped.

To say Aberdeen wernt impressive is a bit of an injustice. They won their first trophy in 19 years and beat us twice, once at home in the cup.

  14. We have gradually gotten worse over the past few years, I don't even think that is up for debate. The team Lennon had which got us to the last 16 was a better team than we had last year, and our team last year, was better than the one we currently have.

Aberdeen, considering the team they had, underachieved last season.

The thing that will keep delia in the job for now is the lack of proper competition in the league. Id say 95% shrug off the thought of Hamilton maintaining there current form and position and most would not give serious consideration towards dundee utd or aberdeen challenging us even as we sit 6th after a terrible start to the season. If we had the serious competition (not giving any examples) and sat 6 points behind a team that could seriously challenge us at this stage of a season alot of the people backing deila would have different views on the current situation.

  15. Well its not that way :97: The league is the way it is, we can only deal with what's actually in front of us, not some alternative universe pish.

  16. Theres a good chance it could be back to being that way in the next two seasons. So we need to prepare for the serious competition again domestically that will come back maybe not next season but in the near future and if deila would want to be a successful long reigning manager he should be at least showing signs of being able to win the league without competition.

  17. We should never accept below par just because we can get by doing that. We should be striving to be the best that we can be.

  18. I feel like crying ever time I look at the league table. Get Ronny to *, he's embarrassing our club.

Give him time? Lenny took over Mowbrays team and won the remainder of our league games. Ronny out, man can't string any more than 3 wins in a row together.

  19. John Hartson says Deila is a Laughingstock.

    The Sun.
