Celtic & St Johnstone sanctioned over Palestine flag

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Tifosi Celtic, Sep 2, 2014.

  1. I didn't mean to repeat what was just said. I was mid-post. :52::smiley-laughing002:

  2. Stop * the question if celtic where fined over waving irish flags would you still say rules are rules

  3. i think many stadiums fly international flags on stadium roofs etc so will all clubs who fly such flags be getting fined or just the clubs from Scotland.

  4. If he thinks you're less of a fan for not being interested in the political side, he's wrong; my understanding, however, is that he thinks you less of a Celtic fan for trying to deny other tims their right to participate in the political aspects of Celtic, which is defensible.

  5. Here's your 'clowns' line. I'll let people interpret it as they wish:

  6. No I wouldn't difference is we were founded by people from Ireland and have Irish connections. The same cannot be said for Palestine.

  7. Like it or lump it, any national flag is a political statement.

    Don't want to get into what about so and so, but Ajax etc shouldn't get fined either.

    Sure with UEFA rules, if they applied everyone to the letter you would have stand closures and fines galore.

    UEFA seem to get their rule book out at certain times, or with certain clubs.

  8. Are ourselves, St. J and Dundalk the only teams being sanctioned?

    As I have plainly said before, I do not disagree nor wish Celtic fans to stop waving the flags outwith UEFA competition. However, I think it makes perfect sense to not bring flags to UEFA games where we can be punished for it.

    Clutching at straws now, if you want to wave a flag to deliberately get your team fined I would class that as clown-like behaviour.

  9. That's not actually what you said, you just said it was clowns like me that was getting the club fined (for waving a flag). Then you posted this..

    So you clearly do have a problem with people waving flags, oh no actually you don't because you don't agree with the rule, oh no actually you do because we are getting fined, oh no actually you don't because it should be fairer etc. Maybe you should try get your message across clearer :50:

  10. I've no problem with people who only care about the football if they don't try to dictate to the traditional Celtic support how we should behave. I don't think I'm any more of a fan than them, I do think we support and see the club differently.

    If you think I'd rather not have people supporting the club who are ashamed of our traditions, like you, you're bang on the money.

  11. Nevertheless a significant proportion of the club's supporters have adopted the Palestinian cause.

    That should be undeniable even to you.

  12. Ashamed of our traditions? Where did you get that idea? I am proud of Celtic and what it stands for. Proud of why it was founded and what we have done as a club since it was formed. That statement is frankly a steaming hot pile of * and you're deliberately being a *.

  13. You don't turn a blind eye to oppression because it's not happening in your doorstep.

  14. If you were proud of what Celtic stood for, you would not be reprimanding supporters for standing against oppression.

  15. :56::56::56::56::56::56:

  16. Why don't you volunteer to go over and help the people of Palestine then and actually do something instead of being an elitist keyboard warrior on a Celtic forum, *.

  17. Dearie me. Quoting your own words is 'clutching at straws'?

    Also, your logical fallacy is that fans are waving the Palestinian flag to get a fine - they're waving it to show solidarity with the people of Palestine. The fine is a later, newer development.

  18. I haven't reprimanded any supporters you * wit, I've said it makes sense not to take flags to games in a UEFA competition. Try actually reading and understanding the posts pal :50:

  19. I showed you where you tripped up, now kindly * off as you promised to do :50:
