Celtic & St Johnstone sanctioned over Palestine flag

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Tifosi Celtic, Sep 2, 2014.

  1. So if UEFA starts banning all flags and banners you will agree with it

  2. Then they should ban its presence in for non Israeli teams. If they cannot reciprocate in the interest of fairness, then they should not ban the Palestinian flag

  3. Uefa don't do us a favour by letting us play in there competition we make them money a lot and lot of money.
again I'll ask if they said they wanted the tri-colour banned would you accept it because it's the rules?

  4. That's one option:smiley-laughing002:

As I said, you never what there going to do next. Along with being shrouded in hypocrisy.

  5. I have already stated I don't agree with it, if you had bothered to read any of my previous posts.

    I agree with that.

  6. That at least would be fair and a better scenario than singling out one nation for special treatment. Not that I endorse the banning of flags

  7. Look forward to our Legia' style Anty UEFA display. :56:

  8. Aye and even better is it shouldn't have teams in UEFA,maybe if they hadn't set up an Illegal state and started wars with all it's Arab neighbours they could play in the * correct governing body

  9. Well this is where you're tripping over yourself. Calling fans like myself a clown for waving flags whilst stating you don't agree with the rule. How does that make any sense? So you abuse us for waving the flags then criticise UEFA's rule.

  10. Sadly, I think this is exactly what will happen. Dundalk have appealed against their fine, and both ourselves and St. Johnstone should be doing likewise.

  11. I await with interest the decision they take in regards to the fallout with Ukraine and Russia.

Sport has been a good vehicle in the past for highlighting inequality in the wider world and using it's influence for the better.

Unfortunately the majority of those in these positions are jobsworth * out to line their own pockets and inflate their own egos.

  12. Are you * stupid? It should be abundantly clear that I am not defining who is and isn't a Celtic fan. It's just a football team to you. There're many more dimensions to Celtic than that for me. Evidently, we are not every bit the same.

  13. Come on, we've been through this. The flag of the other party to the conflict is not attracting fines, so it's not about avoiding controversy and is in fact the very opposite of fair and unbiased.

  14. I'm with you I have already asked why Spurs and Ajax have not been sanctioned for displaying Israeli flags

  15. Those sports teams and organisations boycotting Apartheid South Africa being a prime example, to take a case apparently dear to UEFA's heart (c.f. Mandela celebrations).

  16. I never called anyone a clown for waving a flag. I called people clowns for saying they didn't care what the punishment was and they they should be waved anyway. I think you're tripping over plain English.

Hypocritical * the lot of them :31:

  17. There are Palestinian players playing in their competitions.

  18. UEFA have the gall to ban anti-apartheid support so soon after honouring Madiba, a political statement in itself. * hypocrites.

  19. My point is you think you are more of a Celtic fan and look down your nose at another poster because you're wrapped up the in politics. The fact is you're not more of a fan, but it makes you feel big to think so.
