Celtic & St Johnstone sanctioned over Palestine flag

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Tifosi Celtic, Sep 2, 2014.

  1. What part of the Palestinian flag does not represent Hamas do you fail to * understand :31:

  2. Stop derailing the thread. This was the Palestinian flag, not the Hamas flag.

  3. Fatah was also elected does it represent them or are you only going down the Hamas route

  4. What has any of this got to do with the fact you believe that the Palestinian national flag is the flag of Hamas?

This is Hamas' flag, the flag of a movement supported by a minority of the Palestinian people (indeed a majority of the Palestinian people weren't old enough to vote in 2006 when Hamas came first in the last elections):

Have you ever seen this flag at CP?

  5. Does that mean the tri-colour equates to the IRA as well and therefore we can't fly that either?

    Where will it end? :31:

  6. We're flying the flag in support of the people there who continue to suffer. If anyone seriously thinks we're flying the flag for Hamas then you're deluded. And pretty * stupid to be honest.

  7. Better not fly any Norwegian flags in support of Deila in case people think we're supporting that Anders Breivik guy.

  8. So does the saltire represent the SNP? No, it reperesents Scotland as a nation.

    Notice the difference here

    Quite different arent they?

  9. Thats like saying the tricolour is an Ira flag or that the basque flag is an eta flag. Or the union jack is a national front flag.

  10. Who gives a *, UEFA's competition, UEFA state the flag isn't allowed, we wave the flag anyway and get punished. Close the thread and talk about Celtic ffs.

  11. The decision to punish us has to be challenged. It is a Celtic matter, as it's the club being fined.

  12. It's exactly the same as Legia breaking black and white rules and appealing that, a pointless waste of time.

  13. Presumably it was flown by Celtic fans and it's our club who have been threatened with a fine. This is about Celtic.

So do I understand that morality is irrelevant to to the issue in your view? It's UEFA's competition, end of?

It's not the same at all. Flying the Palestinian flag is no different to flying the flag of any other country in the World. If they are dishing out fines for one, they must surely hand out fines for them all.

  14. Well when are Spurs and Ajax going to be sanctioned,it's got to be a level playing field after all,or is it only Palestinian flags people and UEFA have a problem with

  15. I can't believe there is any of our fans actually backing Uefa on this. Sad really.

  16. Not only that they can't tell the * deference from a political parties flag and a national one :31:

  17. I am denying that Hamas is considered a terrorist organisation. UEFA is apolitical. It cannot proscribe organisations. Hamas are not universally considered to be a terrorist organisation. It is considered a terrorist organisation in certain states.

If you think that the Palestinian flag represents Hamas, you're a moron, quite frankly.

Flying the saltire is not different to flying a Palestinian flag. And by your logic (or lack therof) the saltire represents the SNP; a political organisation.

  18. UEFA have the same right to arbitrary imposition of political censorship on football fans as they do to choose the rules (which are consistently applied) under which players must sit out suspensions? Is that what you are arguing here?

  19. :50:
