    The rule is there, UEFA say you can't put those types of terms in a contract.

    That didn't stop Atletico having to cough up the money though. The threatened sanctions swept under the carpet after the tie was done.

    Why would they? It wasn't in the terms of the agreement, we as a club completely disregarded the fact ourselves and Elfsborg could draw each other.

    Could play I think you mean but not would.

    Doubt Ronny would want to do that could ruin a good relationship with City in the future of getting decent loan players off them.

    Did Atletico pay Chelsea? I was under the impression that in European competitions, UEFA's stance on it is that that clause is only a domestic thing, therefore, they cleared the path for Courtois to play without any payments?

    I know there was a clause in the contract saying he could play for X amount of money, but I thought UEFA told Chelsea to * up because that's not how it works in European competitions :smiley-laughing002:

    It's a bit more detailed than i thought..

    I thought domestically you couldn't play against your team but in europe you could and onlt verbal fair play agreement stopped it..

    Not bothered as long as we don't play Barca, Shakhtar and Benfica yet again. If we had to play an English team then I would want Liverpool before City and Chelsea. Out of all the teams qualified, Dortmund would probably be the best for travelling fans.
