I'm pleased with how we kept the ball for the most part, but disappointed in the lack of creativity. That changed slightly when they went down to ten as you would expect. When it was 11 v 11 though, we were struggling to brake them down. I think we looked a better team when Berget went up top for the short time he was played there. Gives us a fighting chance of getting on the end of a cross also, as first half, we didn't even look like getting on the end of one.

In the end, delighted to get the three points, but I think the scoreline flattered us.

Not long home, 3-0 so happy days, there is room for improvement of course and i hope we will over the next few games we do.
Just a few things that caught my eye
thought Derk played well when he came on.
Gordon looks sharp which i was relieved to see, was also nice to see him off his line.
Still not sure on our defence,
Thought Biton took his penalty well. especially when the lads behind me where holding a big Free Palastine banner :smiley-laughing002:

Penalty decisions changed it...and IMO neither were.

We looked no bad for a good portion of the game but really lack up front. For a team that has supposed to be fluent, keeping in the managers style, we seem flat at times. Especially in the final third. I'm confident though that we will improve and really get it togehter

After the first half I could never have seen us getting a 3-0 win out of that. Even into the 2nd St Johnstone had a period of pressure before we went up and capitalised on slackness in defence.

At the end of the day it wasn't amazing but it is 3 points to kick off the season and 3 goals. We did however get lucky with that penalty and the red card IMO, which ultimately * St Johnstone and allowed us to stroll the last 25 mins or so. A few points...

I was pleased to see Deila not afraid to haul off Commons and Stokes. Other than the goal, they contributed little, especially poor in the first half. If it was Lennon they probably would have been on until the bitter end.

I don't think Johansen will have a worse game for us this season, which is good, get them out the way early and all that. There was a period in that 2nd half where he must have gave the ball away 4 or 5 times in a row. Didn't look comfortable tonight for me.

Forrest added some much needed pace on the right flank in that 1st half, look forward to seeing him hopefully stay fit.

Boerrigter did ok when he came on, seems to have decent delivery but everytime he dribbles with the ball my mind still flashes to that horse gif.

I think Berget could be useful. We have to take into account the fact that the guy has played next to no football in the last year or so, not even sure if he has had much of a pre-season? I think he will work hard for the side and seems to have creativity, also has a knack of growing a * off beard in next to no time:56:

McGregor is going to be key this season, great prospect who is performing exactly as I thought he might after the season he had last year.

Van Dijk was pretty dominant as usual, dreading the moment he might leave us. His pre-match comments didn't exactly fill me with confidence.

All in all it was a win. It wasn't inspiring but as Deila says, and I hope he is right, it will come in time. He desperately needs the backing to put his own stamp on that side though. Hard game on Sunday now...

Just watched the interviews from after the game. I never saw the whole game, only seen from just after the Stokes goal.

In his interview Tommy Wright said his teams performance was "excellent". I then had a look at the match stats which state St Johnstone had 1 shot on target. I often wonder what these managers view as excellent. I always thought the aim of the game was to win. Yet it seems that preventing your opponent from playing is "excellent"??? Fair enough if you score and created numerous chances but from what I seen it was all break-aways with little end product.

Anyway, I though Delia handled his interview very well. From what I saw it was a decent performance although others I have spoken to were critical of the 1st half display, as was Delia. Sloppy in possession and no creativity or cutting edge when we did use the ball well.

Work in Progress seems to be the catchphrase!!!

such bullshit here, most say better without Stokes or Commons, both played a part in the goal great finish by Stokes, lucky to get the pen, if Commons was on he would have scored as well, keeper * up for our 3rd, yes Berget and Borgitter were ok but we were playing a team who were down to 10 men and knew they were beaten. not a word about Biton or Johnanssen who were *.

Burger is looking sharper than he did all last season.

Hopefully see the best of him this year.

Was pleasantly surprised when he was critical of the first half as although we weren't dire I was expecting a lot more as I expect all celtic fans were and delighted that Ronny acknowledged this. Think it shows he is actually extremely aware and not one of these soundbite managers.

    In bold:

    1. Genuinely think they were hauled them off to 'preserve' them for sat. Rightly or wrongly.
    2. Agree, was impressed with Forrest, showed a good touch and much needed incisiveness down the right (although came infield too often).
    3. Berget looked very useful, actually liked him up front was mobile and had a physical presence.
    4. Nor his post match comments.

Why dont players celebrate goals anymore? Stokes scores and he gives a we air punch. Id rather kayal or ambrose score so we can see a proper mental celebration. Doesnt scoring for celtic mean anything to them? Its not a training game ffs.

Neil McCann was pretty pitiful last night, almost crying about the penalties.

Tbh, I thought it was a stonewall freekick anyway seconds before with Izzy, guy swiped his legs away, the exact same thing that everyone was bleating about with MacKay and VVD.

I do think Derk got clipped, but took a dive in the end.

    So, no penalties for me.
