Manchester just shades it I think. Historically, I think they have pretty much been as influential as each other, I think greater Manchester is more economically important and I think it acts a a cultural centre for pretty much a vast part of the North, but then that could be said of Glasgow with the West of Scotland. Arguably, they also have the largest football team in the world.

One thing that's always annoyed is musically Manchester is miles ahead of Glasgow. Glasgow has never produced a top music band that has really influenced the scene. You have Deacon Blue and Simple Minds, but they really are generic * at the end of the day, maybe Primal Scream? But they are not the Smiths, Oasis or the Stone Roses or the greatest * head in history, Shaun Ryder. Our comedies have been successful, though.

Seems humour can bypass the cranium too.

If you don't mean what I think you mean then ignore that previous comment. If you do then don't.

True, and down the line we did have Adam Smith and Kelvin. I do enjoy the centre of Glasgow more than Manchester, the Northern Quarter is nice, though. Maybe not as culturally rich as the centre of Manchester, that's more the west end in Glasgow, or at least the west end likes to think that. I feel the upper classes have always been the holders of culture in Glasgow, or cultural movements at least. Though, as many people have said, the best stuff always usually pops up from working class backgrounds, Limmy Show, Chewin the Fat. I went to that end of year show at he GSA at it was full of irksome toffs.

That seems to be the case , in which case if you didn't mean what I thought you meant then you too should also ignore my previous comment. However if you didn't then don't.

Hopefully that's that cleared up now :smiley-laughing002:

Manchester is quite a bit bigger than Glasgow. Birmingham is a larger city too.

No Glasgow is a bigger city in area and population than Manchester, that is the actual city of course.
Glasgow is alot greener than Manchester in both the important ways!
