I don't think its higher than the SPFL. But think of the conditions they play in, its evident the guy is fit as a fiddle.

Does this mean we signed Lassad and Miku ahead of him when he was younger and probably slightly fitter? :smiley-laughing002:

I'd probably take him, would be a good guy to have around. Doesn't strike me as someone who'd demand ridiculous wages at this point either, seems genuinely keen to play for us.

He was offered 50k a week in Australia - we couldn't match that. If it was circa 25 i think we would have.

We would also probably mostly sign him for the merchandise sales. I would buy a Celtic top with his name on though, that's for sure.

    * him......he can buy a season ticket if wants to be here bad enough!

39 for a forward......nah, id far rather see a 17 yearold get a shot at it!

That's the sort of reasoning that has just put Rolf Harris in prison.

I'd take him just to see him once in the Hoops. One of my favorite players growing up and one of the greatest we will ever see. Lawell would * in his pants at the thought of the shirt sales and publicity.

Bring him in for a year or 6 months, imagine the experience he could pass on to our younger players. I don't know how much wages he'd be asking for, certainly not 50k now.

He's not really a striker anymore either, could easily be deployed as a centre forward just in behind or an attacking midfielder.

Even if nothing really comes of this, it just shows the impact we have on world class players. Lost count of the amount of legends who have said they'd love to have played/play for Celtic.

Yeah, let the Dead Co sign up ancient has-been players. We are not a retirement home for * trying to top up their pension. He'd probably want at least £30,000 a week, I'd rather see someone a lot younger be our top earner.

If we got him it would be for the name. Not sure if he'd be worth a punt, if his wages weren't too high I'd say yes, would be good to have around for the young players and probably still has something about him. Not worth taking a big risk on though.

i say get him in :) pay as you play. and don't play him so money is safe in the bank but having a player of his stature would do wonders for all at the club.

Am no sure what to believe, he kinds of contradicts himself....

Del Piero added: “We were in contact with Celtic, but it didn’t come to anything."

“Nothing happened, we talked but in the end I decided to go to Sydney."

"My brother spoke for me and at the end we said thank you for your interest and then I went to Australia."

^^ This suggest he himself choose not to join us.

Del Piero “It never got to the stage where Celtic offered me a contract. It was unfortunate because I was very interested.

^^ But this statement suggest we never offered him a deal so that's why he went to Sydney.

Not sure if he and Zlatan would be able to link up well.

Anyways, yes of coarse I'd take him!

Too right, how about Edgar Davids as well? Dorf & Davids were excellent in that soccer aid match.

If we don't sign one of those three players i will be very disappointed now

More than likely Sydney offered him an actual deal, while we were just talking to him. He took the first offer that looked decent I guess.
