Tbh I wouldn't worry about that at all with Samaras. It was always mental with him, when his head was in the right place he played great, but when he couldn't be arsed he was a total waste of a jersey. I don't remember him being injured much, infact the only serious injury I can think of is when he went off in the Nou Camp in 2012 (he was scaring Alves shitless down the left wing and we were winning 1-0 at that point :54:)

Physically his condition never really changed much, he never seemed to train hard (I think Lenny himself slaughtered him for it quite often) and literally stood still in a game if he didn't have the ball.

Joe Miller said on Radio Clyde tonight that signing Samaras would be a step backwards for Celtic. I couldn't disagree with that.

He's been part of much better celtic teams than the current one so I don't see how it's a stepback

You don't like having words put in your mouth and being told what you're thinking? Could have fooled me with the * you were saying to me.

No Samaras was very consistent, he was consistently *.

TBH I remember him being one of the worst for taking a few games to get back up to speed after being out. Then again, I remembered Petrov scoring the equaliser against Boavista at home so I don't really trust my memory at the moment. :54:

Better team with him in it no doubt.

But he wont come back, we took the * outta him making it look like we offered a contract and then Sammy saying when he left there was no offer.

With the likes of tonev coming in, mcgregor being put in the squad and Forrest back from injury I think we have wingers who can cause a bigger threat than Sammy in Europe tbh.. If we are looking for more depth I'd rather buy another winger or maybe wakaso Mubarak that we are linked with could play out wide, samaras is too much of a liability and if it doesn't go his way he'll throw a tantrum

Sammy is our 4th highest ever European goalscorer, the names you mentioned have a long way to go before they can be considered a bigger threat than him.

That being said, I'm not sure if it would be wise to bring him back, certainly not on 25k a week. Maybe 15k with performance related bonuses then maybe I would take a punt on him.

Can't guarantee he will be as good in Europe as he previously was.... I think as long as we have a decent striker we'll be more than okay.... Good pacy attacking wingers giving the opposition a tonne and a good poacher waiting to finish the ball off

At least we could punt the ball up to Sammy if we really are under pressure- he gives us an out option in Europe!!! Mon the Sammy!!!!!

And some tubes say Stokes is a better player :smiley-laughing002: could you ever imagine Valencia being in for Stokes in a million years? No chance.

Stokes works much harder and doesn't only turn up when he wants to; Sammy is more skillful IMO. La Liga will be more of a challenge for him and bring out the best in him I think. :50:

Or Lyon, Beskitas(Who just signed Demba Ba) and Lokomotiv Moscow who have Pavleychenko. Plus a Chinese club willing to give him £100K a week. Would anyone one of these be offers to Stokes? :smiley-laughing002:
