Aye, he played in all 6 Champions League games last season, 5 of which were defeats.

I think we should be looking to invest that £25,000 per week elsewhere, and also be looking to offload some of the other big earners who aren't anywhere near effective enough.

 

He also played a huge part in the playoff scoring 1 and set up commons for the 1st in the so important Karagandy playoff last season which led us to those 6 CL games. He should never have been released in the 1st place though.

 

Rumours, Daîbhi. There are rumours that he wanted that, there are also rumours that he turned down more than that to go to China and Russia. I'd take all of them with a pinch of salt (China is one thing, but would he really turn down Spartak Moscow? Doubt it.

The only thing we know for sure is that Sammy said he wasn't offered a contract. I believe him.

Oh and he's not the answer. Great player but totally the opposite of what we're trying to build.

Of course we should sign him, only player in our team who could cause some damage against quality. Inconsistent, but i'd take him.

If he signs he'll be the player that plays up front on his own under Deila's system, he won't play him in midfield.

Im not saying that. And it is just a rumour. His european record with us is great, and exactly what we need now.

 

He's more suited to that role than any striker we have at the moment but I do agree.

 

Severely doubt he was asking for 25k a week. He was on around 15k. We badly missed him against Legia. We had no-one to turn and run with the ball, or strong enough to hold it up. He was the most fouled player during the WC group stages. Getting set pieces like that is invaluable to a team like us in Europe. Bring Gorgeous George home.

 

I think the full fact he plays a massive part year on year getting us into Europe then in terms of monetary value he is worth it.

For the rest of the season? Or for the sporadic cameo's? Probably not.

But if you're measuring him up in terms of the money... well, he helps brings in more than is shelled out.

 

Do not want Sammy back, * sake what is the point? Get in someone new.
