I know, I've got a feeling I'm being harsh but it's just always something I've thought about him since his Hearts days. So far it's not really been put to rest in my head.

I think he should be out earlier than he was, him and Matthews weren't really in tandem there and it's why Watkins got to the ball first. I also think if you've made the decision to not come out quickly then you stay big and try and make the save rather than wiping the man out.

I'm not fully blaming him either, the ball shouldn't have got that far, Commons shouldn't have taken a shocking corner, we should have an extra man back there so it's 2 on 1. I'm just saying that I've always had my doubts about his big game mentality and yesterday (along with the Inter game) doesn't put those doubts to rest.

How early are we talking? Do you think he should have been rushing out when the ball got played through, when Matthews was chasing, or out quicker after he slides in, and the ball goes towards him?

I've only seen the penalty/red card incident briefly, but my initial thoughts were that there was a point right after Matthews got a touch that Gordon looked favourite to reach the ball.

I could be wrong, and I'd like to see it again from different angles, but that was my initial thought when seeing it the first time.

I don't blame him for the penalty though, as I thought the player was clever when he flicked the ball to the side then went straight over Gordon. Nothing the keeper could do there.

Should have been out just before Matthews slides in, as it was clear Watkins was favourite and Matthews was getting desperate.

He was 100% slow in coming out.

I think some are reluctant to criticise him after he has done so well but he * up big time in the Inter game and I believe he * up yesterday as well.

I honestly think if he runs out with his arms facing the ball he would have got a touch or maybe the whole ball but taking the player after him obviously I don't blame him tbh but still think if roles where reversed and he decided to come out with hands instead of his legs we wouldn't be seeing him get a red or even a penalty

It's a shame for Craig Gordon that he's had such a great season, but made errors in two massive games that have proved extremely costly. It's unfortunate, but that's football, mistakes happen. Chin up and move on.

Hmmm, just not sure, if he was off his line, then there is the risk of a lob, into the bargain how does he know when Matthews is going to actually try and tackle.

Tbh, I think Matthews was very poor with his positioning, and obviously Commons bizarre corner.

It may have been a tad different if it was maybe Efe (although he may have been up for the corner) as he is very very quick.

I was proud of the support he got against Inter and he bounced back well. None the less, I was behind the goal and he looked really nervous, hesitant to come out and take command. This ultimately lead to the goal; he didn't want to come out, hesitated and then decided to come, but by that time the moment had gone, he ran out and then the ball ran by him. Big mistake. Yesterday, there was some of that same indecision and it cost him and ultimately us. As someone said, the big game mentality is not there, or need cultivated.

I'm willing to give him more time, he has been out for ages and I don't see where we can get another keeper so cheap.

He is to blame for that penalty, obviously. He's let us down in two massive games this season.. I think yeaterday has blown his chances of picking up POTY.

So Rooney is going to win it then?

Don't say Johansen then, as he fkd up twice in front of goal, so guess that rules him out too.

Gordon, Van Dijk, Denayer and Johansen all deserve it ahead of Brown imo.

Johansen would be my choice at the moment. Neck and neck between him and Brown. Gordon still has a chance but I think yesterday has set him back.

Brown, jeez I thought \o/ was joking.

Thought he was excellent yesterday (saw others say he was poor), but no way is he even close.

    Why not? :smiley-laughing002:

He's been absolutely sensational all season.

  19. Gordon shouldn't have rushed out and took the player out, the game was still balanced even if they scored from the 1v1
