To say the Packers have the best history in the NFL and "it's not even close" is entirely subjective. Personally I couldn't care less how many World Titles a team has won. Different people will use different criteria when judging a team's history.

Who is making the Packers 2nd favourites to win the NFC next season? You? Other Packer fans?? Media guys??? There were plenty 'experts' who said the Packers would make the Superbowl this year then they got thrashed by the 49ers. The Packers were never making the Superbowl this year because their defense was hopeless. Anyone who makes predictions about next season when we haven't even had the draft or free agency yet is a fool.

When I say, "it's not even close", I can back it up with all the World Titles and Conference Titles and Divisional Championships and people they have in the Hall of Fame.

To say that different people have different criteria can get one into the land of the ridiculous. It would be like my Vikings fan brother saying the Vikings have the best history in all of sports. Just ludicrous.

In the end, you can only judge a team by what they have done on the field. And when it comes to that, the Packers are the best team by far-- it's not even close. And that is a statement of fact.

Oddsmakers are picking the Packers as second favorites in the NFC. Just another statement of fact.

I'm in the same boat as Slaw, this year was the first year watching the superbowl I actually wanted a team to win, getting more and more into it, just don't support a team yet.

bought it a month or so ago as well.

I disagree. The Patriots have won 3 Superbowls but I would not want any part of their history given that their Superbowl wins have an asterisk next to them because of Spygate.

The Raiders also have 3 Superbowl wins to their name but I wouldn't want any part of their history either. They're renowned for being a dirty team and for cheating.

There are many different ways to judge a team, what they have won in the past is only one of them.

Oddsmakers eh. What do the oddsmakers know at this point? The same as the rest of us, very little. I'll wait till free agency and the draft are out the way before I make any assumptions about who the favourites are for next season.

This is a decent site for any newcomers to the NFL. It has a team picker thing on it where you can answer some questions and it will suggest a team for you to support(it's * though :smiley-laughing002:). It also has pages where you can learn about the basics of the game and learn a little bit about the history, famous players etc from each team.

To those teams mentioned if you move (Chargers, Jags,Bills, etc), I hope you fail miserably! To the Owners who leave cities, it is a poor craftsman who blames his tools, and fool who can't make money with their own printing press in their basement!

Each team plays everyone in their division twice, home and away. So for example the Patriots play the Jets, Bills and Dolphins twice - 6 games. Each division also plays another division in their conference. So for example the AFC East play the AFC North - 3 games. Each division also plays another division in the other conference, for example the AFC East play the NFC South - 3 games. Leaving 4 games, I'm not 100% sure how this bit works but I think the general idea is the best play the best. So the winners of the AFC East play the winners of the AFC South or whatever.

    In simple terms it is;

    AFCE v AFCE - 6
    AFCE v AFCN - 3
    AFCE v NFCS - 3
    AFCE v Random - 4

Cheers for the run-down Paul. I really enjoyed the Super Bowl this year and I've found myself really looking forward for the season to restart.
