I made a mistake with the currencies as I didn't pay attention to the dollar sign. Still there's 3-5 on that wage. Honestly I don't know what you're trying to prove.

You're trying to tell me we can spend the money that we earn? We will DIE if we spend the money WE HAVE :50:

Scott Brown is reportedly on £25k a week, but that's top line. After tax he will earn £13,461 per week. That's virtually half of the calculation you did above for the winger you guys are talking about.

In your wee calculation you worked it down to 'net'.

Maybe we should use derivatives :smiley-laughing002:

Im telling you that if you dedicate your resources into aquiring a solid team with as much quality as possible with the capital as your disposal we can do some damage in Europe; attract bums on seats etc.

I find it delusional that we can't. This policy we are under is having detrimental effects. To treat our Football depertment with austerity and expect it to repay us in a constant profit strategy is not only excerised with faliure but also testament to our transitional periods. Its embarrassing, even more when some are for this kind of nonsense at the Club when a CEO takes £1m without winning a trophy. 2009 for example, its criminal, as yourself whos benefiting from it? Its certainly the Board, not us!

That is a dirty little secret within our support that nobody admits. People have been scarred by what happened to oldco whether they admit it or not. The "it could happen to us" train of thought. As I said I am purely talking about money we could spend from CL qualification alone I'm not even talking about going anywhere near into the red to do this. I do feel like our fans lost something when they died (although I will be hounded for saying it) we lost our balls and our ambition for playing it safe and it actually breaks my heart.

I could indeed be! If that is the case, and it is replicated across their player base, where would you go if you were a player, given the choice?

Even so. A single CL qualification would fund his contract for 4 years with 33.3% of this cash left over in change. We would be under no obligation to qualify again for the length of his contract.

Note this does not take a transfer fee into account but we can easily afford to play a player double what Brown is on and then some, if of course we use all of the CL money earned on our first team.

I love this thread. Ronny Deila - will he stay or go? How has inflation impacted football wages since 1972? Did Ronny Deila watch a dvd of Molde before either game? Would Davie Moyes or that bloke from Stuttgart do any better? How much tax does Scott Brown pay?

    Great thread.

Exactly, people think by 'balancing books' will get us into the CL and reassert domestic success :smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:. Ask Liverpool how they feel about implementing the same structure as us under their FSG group. Signing under 24 year olds to make profit… Going well if you're recieving dividents!

One of the biggest obstacles to us getting top class players is our inability to compete with the wages of bigger nations teams with their tv revenues, and the wages of some smaller nation teams with beneficial tax rates for highly paid professionals.

Couple that with the draw of the English Premiership or La Liga or the Bundesliga in exposure for a player, and the lucrative contracts that can help bring in, plus the quality of the leagues they will ply their trade in, and we are left with the type of player who may be up and coming, but with some ambition to prove themselves in a decent league.

You can have all the ambition you want and pay exorbitant salaries that will stretch our budgets to the limits, but it need not necessarily lead to an improvement in quality on the park.

The policy of living within our means, buying young and hungry players with sell on potential is the correct one for the club in this economic climate. Without a move to a new league, it is the only viable policy we could adopt. This will mean that our team will recycle more often that we might like ideally, and it will cause fluctuations in our form. A club like Ajax understand this and have adopted the same policy. Some fans of our club are not as enlightened as those in Amsterdam.

    Time for a reality check.

We can live within our means and offer a bosman player 50k per week and higher easily. We can choose to divert all CL money towards the first team and massively extend the wage budget. If we want to.
