just because we come out defensive, doesn't mean we can't win the match. Away from home, the first thing to make sure, is we don't lose. Secondly we try to get a goal or two. Look at Scotland vs France - defensive all night, had one chance, took it, WON. We HAVE to be defensive cause we are playing a very good side and we aren't actually very familiar of them. We need to be careful in our approach. We are usually very good at our counter attacking, so hopefully we will hit them on the break since they do seem to be a very attacking team. When they come at us, I expect them to push a lot of their players forward. Defensive players will drift out of positions to cover the attacking players and there will be more space for McGeady and Skippy to run into. This will probably be the plan for WGS since it is safe and realistic. Another goal similar to Hartley vs Spartak goal will be great.

Thank you for explaining. 'the' is also used a lot less in the west than it was a few years back so we a learning:50:. We did a lot of stuff about soviet history at school. I have never been to Ukraine or to Russia but I visited the capital cities of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on the Baltic one summer a few years ago. I think my grandparents visited Kiev on a tour of USSR during the olympic year of 1980.

Are run of results and form is great atm, league wise.
CL, we where ok but with more match fitness in are belt now, we should be better prepared.
Brown and Dontai didnt show much agaisnt spartak and but where always looknig good in the league, so hopefully they can reproduce the league form and get us this win.
I would say go 4-4-1-1 with JVOh upfront and Mcdonald just behind him to help out the midfield and help him at the same time, with defense/ midfield the same.

I heard that Lee Naylor Didn't Train today and Darren O'Dea or Caldwell will play at LB if Naylor doesn't make it,Anyone hear this as well.

Strachan got his tactics Spot on in Moscow and So I'll trust him on this one,Surely our luck has to change sooner rather than later,And it will in Donetsk tomorrow

I think Spartak look a better side than Donetsk so GS might opt for a 4-4-2,Personaly with Skippy looking so sharp,I bet he scores a brace.

We should just sit back and hit them on the break,Bang,Bang-Half-Time 0-2:ynwa:

I can see us winning our first CL group game away from Fortress Parkhead,Could you imagine if Benfica+AC Milan drew and we won:eek:Now that would be fecking awesome.

    Top Of Group-D-

    Boruc
    Wilson,McManus,Caldwell,O'Dea
    Naka,S.Brown,Donati,Hartley
    JVOH,Skippy

    1-3:ynwa:
    Skippy-Brace+Skoshhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    Mon The Bhoys!!

If naylor is gonna be injured for the match i would shift wilson to LB as he gave soem of his best performances there in his 1st season and doumbe to RB.

Um...we have got away draws (in normal time) in the our last two CL games and against seriously good opposition at that! The away jinx is over. wGS has mastered how to get an away point of of teams that are technically better than us (which I think Shaktar probably are too).

Shaktar are not better than us, neither are Spartak Moscow.

What channel is the match on lads? I have RTÉ 1 & 2 and Setanta Ireland - will it be on any of those?

Not a doubt we are. We were a disaster in that 2005 season, and we never really played spectacular football. Plus we were a shambles in defence, we had Camara as a striker (says it all really) and our midfield was aging and poor.

we're stronger now but we had individuals like henke back then that can never be replaced.
i think , if we get beat by the same score line (3-0) it will be a MASSIVE shock.
fact is we expect better now for a reason - we are better

Its going to be a hard game for the bhoys as this team has spent like 40million on players to strengthen it for CL games, i feel McManus will be our key player in this game so lets hope hes on form like he was against France.

iwatched the second leg between shakhter and salzburg and i beleive hesselink should be the man up front in a 4-5-1 formation simply because the salzburg goal came from an aerial move if we exploit this with good delivery and jvohs hight then we can get the points in the bag
