Stefan shouldn't be in the side right now, though.

I don't know why Johansen cant play out left. With his industry and work rate he would be perfect I think. Would surely cover Izzy a lot better too.

Yes, he would probably benefit from being benched for one or two league games, just in order to understand that he's not irreplaceable and to up his performances. Right now he's too much important for us to be left out (Malmo tie).

I agree about this, he would bring balance that Brown brought in Lenny's first season when he played on the right wing.

Absolute nonsense . He doesn't break down our play at all he completely enhances the pattern of our attacks with his space finding ability as well as his ability on the ball. Moves the ball on as fast as anyone else , and normally with more effect then Johansen or Armstrong . I have watched out for his so called " slowing the game down " countless times - it is a lazy myth/cliche that gets banded about this forum .

There have been times when he's slowed the game down when we try to catch the other team on the break, but I think that's something that's disappeared from his game. I remember being annoyed about it at one point in the EL group stage last year, but I can't remember seeing it since.

I've never understood the slows things down point, I think he's one of the quickest thinkers in the team and is always looking for the killer ball in behind.

Look at the first goal the other night, can't see any other player in our team doing what Commons did.

I couldn't give you an exact game, but there has been times when we have been breaking on teams, and Commons has turned backwards to beat the man, instead of releasing it to runners out wide. Totally killing the momentum.

He has made chances for himself today as his first touch has been brilliant. Maybe should have had a couple of goals, but at least he has forced their keeper into making a save three times.

Thought he was poor today. Missed about 4 or 5 chances, caught on the ball a few times as well. Got very lucky for the second goal.

Thought he was poor as well, ball bounces off him for fun. Although he could have scored a hat-trick had 3/4 decent chances and he produced the pass for the OG, usual Commons really frustrating, poor but could have scored and set up goals.

His easiest chance was the one from 6 yards out then the one he hit over the bar. His other 2 efforts were good saves, when he tried to catch their keeper out at the near post, then curling a shot after a bit of skill.

I thought he had a good first half, but tired a bit second half. I think he said as much in his interview?

We always look dangerous with Commons in the side, and if he can get his fitness levels back up, then I'd like to see him getting more game time.

Absolutely. We all know what he's capable of.

He's arguably the best striker of the ball Celtic have. His fitness has been topsy-turvy in the past, but as he said today, he's not played a 90 since May. Should've bagged a goal at least, but still got MOTM.

32 next week so he's obviously one of the older bhoys, but he's also one of the most experienced and I think he still has a * of a lot to contribute to us.

I really hope he gets more game time and gets his fitness back up to his best.
He's been a great servant to the club and is always a goal threat wi that belter of a left peg.

    Good natural quiff also.

Can't disagree with any of that. You always feel that he's likely to create or score a goal for you. Difficult to get a replacement for him.

I didn't think he was great personally. Certainly not motm. I said earlier 3 of the kids were more deserving of it..

Thought he was really.good 1st half but dropped out 2nd.

    Very dangerous though, so intelligent.

Down to fitness, I think. Missed a chunk of pre-season and that was his first full 90 minutes in ages. He will definitely be a big player for us again this year.

I don't think playing with Griffiths suits him (or Griff, actually), but I think Commons would link up very well with Nadir Cifcti.

A can't see Griff and Commons having problems linking up myself tbh.

I think if Commons got a good level of fitness this season, then Griffiths would thrive on a run in the team with him.

Commons is excellent at linking up with strikers, and especially one willing to run for 90 mins like Griffiths.
