They dont have the same problems in nationalist areas. Hence the reason they do not make the news as much.

What Gabriel said. I'd say there are just as much if not more immigrants in nationalist areas, it's just that the majority of nationalists treat immigrants like fellow human beings and don't participate in ethnic cleansing like the loyalist scum.

    Why?

Do you believe that to be the most salient issue in this thread.

I cant speak for the poster , but in my opinion, if these kids do not get an education the cycle will continue. Maybe that is what was meant.
While it is sometimes funny to see them for what they are, it is also very sad in this day and age and education is the only way forward.

I dont see it as a Protestant/catholic issue.

    I see it as a Loyalist/Nationalist issue.

Loyalist aims in life = be a bandsman

Nationalist aim = get a good job.

That is the easiest way of explaining the situation.

Until Loyalists change their attitude and start realising being sad * will get them nowhere, thdn there is * all chance for their youth.

The word 'Stupid' in the thread title must be the most redundant word ever used since the written word was invented.

The only difference in educational opportunities is that they do not attend catholic schools. These children come from families with a higher average income and whose parents are more likely to be in employment. There is underprivileged issue in the case of loyalist children. Many of these children will believe they are superior to their catholic counterparts.

You say that you do not see this as a Protestant vs. Catholic issue. But you are conflating Loyalism and Nationalism with Catholicism and Protestantism. Or if not you yourself, others in this thread are. Holy Family Primary School in Derry is not a Nationalist school, it's a Catholic school. The Catholic community in the Occupied North is not the Nationalist community, nor is the Protestant community the Loyalist community. And I say that as a practising Catholic and an Irish nationalist.

Irish Nationalism is a secular movement, and it seeks to establish an independent and sovereign 32 county Republic of Ireland in the best interests of everyone on that island, and not just a particular religious community. I'm a Catholic, I believe non-Catholics go to *, that Protestantism is heresy, etc., but I also recognise that they are a sizable minority on the island, that they have a right to be on the island, that they have a right to exist, etc. Which is why I do not like to see the Nationalist and Loyalist movements tied up in and conflated with religious communities. It does a disservice to both and the religions and the political movements.

Some people might think I'm being overly pedantic. I'm not even necessarily attacking anyone. I just feel that the Nationalist movement at this time needs to focus on integrating the Protestant community in Ireland. Catholic triumphalism isn't going to help matters.

And I say that with a heavy heart. I love me some Catholic triumphalism. :smiley-laughing002:

All true. There are protestant nationalist and their are catholic unionists. This is goes against the grain as most Catholics were the indigenous population(therefore nationalist in outlook) while the protestants were the colonists(british and therefore unionist) and hence why it is often divided along religious lines.

Years back I was marking an undergrad history paper and the poor author managed to confuse Martin Luther with Martin Luther King Jr. It made for a funny read.

I think there is a very real chance that this daft soul is doing the same!
