    A few questions....

Does anyone on here use them?
What are the best ones to get?
Do they work or are they a waste of money?
Trying to bulk out what sort of routine should i do for weights?

Protein is not really for bulking, it is just a means to help aid recovery after a workout.

If you want to bulk take creatine and eat loads.. Or run a test and clen cycle :fear: :smiley-laughing002:

    Yep

All the biggest names are a pretty safe bet but I have always used myprotein for my supplements for years now, good price and great quality. Their true whey has loads of excellent tasting ones too, namely the mint choc and strawberry.

They work for what they are. It easy to get enough protein from your diet for an average gym goer, however the protein from the shakes is very high quality and for me anyway just so convenient. However they aren't essential.

Base your routine around mostly using free weights (barbell/dumbbells). Routine will depend on how many/what days you can make the gym. If you are a beginner and can only go 2 or 3 times a week I would use a basic full body routine, plenty on the net etc. Just make sure you work your back and legs rather than just the standard chest/biceps that so many do.

Also, I strongly second the creatine suggestion.

Don't go near them if you're on any sort of medication, I've heard they destroy your liver - too. Why not just go to the gym and hit the weights hard?

Whey protein destroys your liver ?? Its Whey ! Its just the off shot from milk, its a natural product fill off vitamins etc

You wont go wrong with a good protein powder. To use it to maximum effect you'll need 1g of protein for each pound weight you are. E.g. If your 150lbs youll need 150g of protein each day. Most off that must come from food, the powder supplements the rest.

    1 egg ( soft poach) = 5g protein
    2 chicken fillets = 30g
Good steak roughly the same. Fish fillet vary look at the package. Easily done.

Remember 10% off getting in shape is the gym work
90% is what you eat and that is the difficult part :54:

If eating pizzas and currys helped getting in shape, we'd all be athletes.
Go for it, stick at it, blood sweat and tears!

Bulk Powders is not cheap. They advertise cheap but they only show the 500g bag price.

For a normal size protein they effectively double the price you would normally get. Myprotein.com is one of the best

I use whey protein. Its a supplement to help boost your protein during the day to get to 1.5grams per lb of lean muscle. Its best used within 45 mins of a workout as its liquid, easily digested and sent straight into recovering they muscles. (plus it feels manly drinking your protein out of a fat shaker :56: )

If you take creatine you need to make sure you take it continuously otherwise otherwise the gains you make from using it will quickly vanish.

I take creatine tablets and have protein with creatine already mixed in the powder.

I take the creatine tabs before my work out, protein shake after my work out and then a smaller shake after tea time.

I take two scoops of protein and add in a scoop of creatine. Make sure you drink plenty water if you are taking creatine though as it will * your kidneys otherwise.

Ordered the myprotein whey and some creatine powder, how much creatine are you meant to take? Will a spoon full be enough added to the shake?

11 and a half stone just now, goin for 13 within the next few months.

Found a website called musclefood for cheap chicken * and steaks etc. Look good.

U get a scoop in the packet, 1 scoop in a small glass of water or add it to your protein shake. If not, use a level teaspoon of it, a full table spoon will be too much and you will be wasting most of it.

Many people load up on creatine however it isn't essential and won't really make a difference long term. I would advise against it for the simple reason you are more likely to experience bloating this way, although that may not happen (happen to me). That and the fact if your are taking creatine 4 or 5 times a day u will likely * a lot of it straight back out.

A stone and a half is ambitious in a few months time, being a beginner you will gain a decent amount of muscle at the star and some weight with creatine though, just don't go crazy with it as you want most of your weight gains to be lean (muscle) rather than fat.

Highly recommend musclefood, used it several times. Their food is great and better value then supermarkets etc. That and I will happily refer you (gets you some free products) lol

myprotein, the protein works, bulk powders, bodybuilding warehouse all good enough suppliers and relatively cheap. whey protein is good stuff but it aint magic, i just use it once or twice a day for an extra protein source.
