    I am mid 30's

The first football game (pro) i was at was Manchester United v Tottenham.

    I loved it.

Then my big brother took me to my first Celtic game.

I can't remember the exact date, but we done a tour and there was still flowers left behind the goals from th Hillsborough game.

I just fell in love with the whole atmosphere and banter.

Now i have a kid of my own and to be honest i have no intenton of taking him to a home game.

    :celt_2:

Used to be every Celtic supporting * wanted to take a wee brother/cousin etc over to watch Celtic.

    Not no more.

Why would you not want to take him to a game if you enjoyed it so much?

Really good OP, it's a worry. Too many people seem to take our support in Ireland for granted these days.

As for your son, you'll have to take him to a CL game IMO.

Don't understand this at all, why a Celtic fan would not want to take his son to a game, is beyond me, surely it's a rite of passage

My son has been to league and CL games and he loves it. He just cannot wait until he is old enough to go to an away game. He does not give a * what any of his friends think. In fact he is one of the few in his class to have been to a game. He is 12 and has been to 4 CL games and about 12 league games along with the 2 games for the Dublin Cup(all before he turned 12 in Jan).

There are only 3 in his class all have been over to live games more than once. Of the rest only 3 have been to an EPL game and each once.

Although i don't have kids (at least i think i don't) my step daughter has said that when she has them she would love to go with them to a Celtic match at Celtic park.
We live in High Wycombe and she lives in Reading. I turned both her and my wife into Celtic supporters.
They are keen to come up to a match but at moment work commitments stop that from happening.
They have both been disappointed about some of that matches with regards to lack of atmosphere.
They both hope that when they finally get the chance to go to a match that will have improved but it won't put them off going.

We go to gaelic football in Ireland. For foreign games we go to a foreign land.

Is that what most Irish think and why the Irish League is so poor?

What about Rugby, do most Irish support Irish teams or others?

Gaelic football and hurling in Ireland is very well supported. In Ulster first round championship games(cup) will usually attract upward of 20k for all games. Regardless of who makes the finals Croke Park(80k) will easily sell out for both games.

    2013

    • 1,489,205 supporters attended Inter-County football and hurling championship games
    • 770,003 followers across official GAA social Media channels
    • 1,642,357 minutes of action viewed on the official GAA You Tube Channel
    • 5,000,000 visits to the GAA.ie website392
    • 2,518 affiliated GAA clubs in Ireland
    • 392 more affiliated internationally
    • 82,501 children participated in Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps
I hate rugby and would not go to a game if you gave me a free ticket and paid my admission. I do not think I am alone in this. Trying to change our national anthem is one of many reasons I hold rugby in contempt.

Does you kid still support Celtic from afar or is he more interesting in the EPL?

I know plenty of guys at work with young kids would really struggle to get their kids motivated to go to watch Celtic (or any other Scottish team) because they all support EPL clubs and would rather watch them on the TV than go to a Scottish game. Pretty depressing, and I would imagine due to distance it would be a similar case in Ireland.

During the last world cup, pilots row community centre (bogside) put up all the flags of the nations taking part inside their hall.
Some local men who use the centre created a "heated debate" about the england flag being up.
To which the manageress put them in their place by telling them you all * wear england tops all year round with man u and liverpool etc and youse complain about this. Maybe we shouldnt let youse in wearing those tops the rest of the year.

No come back from that and the flag remained haha
