    Spot on :50:

It's not so much that a select few are miserable *, but rather they try to drag others into their miserable cunty existence....trying to be the "voice of reason" constantly by going against the grain, extremely sad.

I like that one. It was quality getting all the epiphany's and that back in the day whilst on drugs, figuring * out about yourself and life in general.

I don't need drugs to have a good time like I don't need alcohol to have a good time. I don't even have to get out of bed to have a good time, what with all the wanking I do.

But I used to do them because they were quality and it was always a great crack. Brings mates closer together, when you're all loved up and that.

Had some of the best conversations, some of the funniest times, miss them in a way but I know I made the most of my younger years and being a student so not so much. When I go travelling, I'll make sure to get back on it again.....although I go to Amsterdam on Saturday so I will then as well.

I'm not so sure I buy into the idea that drugs make anyone smart. If someone is smart, they're smart. There's very few fuckwits who suddenly become quality philosophers when their eyes are spinning.

Growing up just outside Motherwell in the 90's I remember some of my mates at the time being into the whole drug thing, all sitting around out their faces thinking their chat was on another level.

It really wasn't though, it was just nonsense for the most part. I used to love sitting in their flats listening to them talk complete * for an hour or two. With me being the only sober one there I'd get a kick out of seeing them all acting as though they'd stumbled onto the hidden secrets of the universe or some other * :icon_mrgreen:

Funnily enough, almost 20 odd years later most of those guys I knew are still living in the same housing schemes, still doing * all, and are pretty much still getting wasted at the weekends and talking *.

Is drugs responsible for a lot of artists and musicians producing great work? Yes, but you'll usually find that those people were talented already. The drugs just added an extra edge. Many of them were the same on alcohol as well.

The majority of * on drugs, especially in Scotland, are just regular folk who need to use them as a way to try and put a positive and seemingly important spin on what is usually a pretty * life.

Whenever I'm home and I meet those same guys from years back, I mostly feel sorry for them if I'm honest.

That's not to say that using them when you're out on a night out is a major thing to me. I really couldn't care less as long as I don't need to put up with anyone's * ruining my night, and that goes for drunk folk as well.

They'll probably never be legalised in the UK, certainly not in our lifetime. With that being the case anyone who falls victim to a bad tablet or whatever has to be ready to face the consequences. They'll get no sympathy from me, or most of the population I'd imagine.

    It's a risk you take I guess.

"Drugs make you smarter, alcohol makes you * in the street"

Depends what drugs you're mates were doing. MDMA or Ecstasy and yea, probably all chatting mince, more hallucinogenics like LSD or mushroooms, or stuff like 2CI or DMT and like I said, you realise * about your life, what you can do better etc, that helps you grow as a person...in a way.

It's more a young person thing I reckon. If you're still doing drugs past 30 that's different to a 20 year old gaining some life experiences.

The boys I knew were heavy into mushrooms, and the only thing that grew about them was their waistlines if I'm being honest.

Like I said, there's probably a lot of interesting conversations take place whilst on those things, but I still maintain that you need to be somewhat intelligent to begin with beforehand.

taken my share of psychedelics and although the chat may not exactly have been enthralling (more just a giggle), but in certain ways it did alter perception and outlook on different aspects on life.

Would you say the same about alchohol ?

I'm 45 and still look forward to the bulldog bash every year...dancing next to 60/70 yr old hells angels ,all out our faces..
Not a big drinker at all...always end up puking..whereas i've yet to have a bad time at the dance tent(no drink involved)

One of the highlights of my year

I'm not saying it doesn't, all I'm saying is that they don't make you smarter. They may alter your perception, but you're not going to suddenly get a job as a philosophy lecturer when you already work as a road sweeper, you know what I mean?

smoking weed/hash and drinking is never a good combo.

And there are illegal drugs in it's purest form (one of my faves MDMA) is safer than alcohol, weed, tobacco

That can happen with a bad curry though, can't it? We won't see curries banned any time soon! :smiley-laughing002:

Take the right amount of a specific concoction you could well become a futurist, whilst being a sweeper .....

On a serious note, drugs are overrated and while may be fun for some. Can cause misery onto others, just like alcohol. They can also delve people into a life of addiction and substance abuse, just like alcohol. They can lead to major health problems, mainly mental health issues if abused ... just like alcohol
