Honest yes or no answers would be appreciated here...

Do you think winning the SPL with the huns in the 3rd division is an "achievement to be proud of"?

Right, that's us into the qualifiers. Now...

Do you think beating Cliftonville over two legs is an "achievement to be proud of"?

Do you think beating Elfsborg over two legs is an "achievement to be proud of"?

Do you think beating Shakhter Karagandy over two legs is an "achievement to be proud of"?

taking part in the CL is a wonderful achievement.

if it is somehow "devalued" by getting there at the expense of "minnows" then that is people's opinion but at the end of the day how playing the best teams in europe can be devalued simply because of the teams we beat to get there is stupid.

But those are benefits, not achievements? If we qualified automatically would you still consider qualifying to be a massive achievement?

An achievement to be proud of yes, a massive achievement not for me. Also our route there has been made so much easier, guaranteed to get in to the qualifiers down the champions route as we are guaranteed to win our league, which means we would now be unlucky to come up against opposition superior to ourselves.

This thread is just getting * stupid now.

It's only a big game when he loses, completely ignoring the fact that in cup format competitions Neil has a 70 odd percent win ratio, only slightly less than his league win ratio.

There's nae competition so we should be winning everything, boo * hoo, newsflash, there is never any competition apart from the loss of one team.

The league is irrelevant, I'll leave that hanging in the ether.

Qualifying for the CL is a foregone conclusion for the European Heavyweight Celtic FC.

Lenny should be judged on the domestic cups because the teams we play in the CL qualifiers are * and we just need to turn up to win.

    I'm honestly out of comebacks.

I couldn't give a flying * about the huns, why are you even asking me about them? :97:

We are in a competition that requires us to gain the most amount of points over our counterparts in a domestic season - so, aye......lifting that cup at the end of season would OBVIOUSLY be something to be proud of. Unless of course you're perhaps alluding to it being an embarrassment or something similar?

I was extremely proud of my team getting into the CL group stages.........why the * wouldn't I be? :97:

Lennon has turned his back on the supporters. Betrays the very people who sang his name, wrote him letters of support, defended him and loved him.

Sorry, Neil. Football without the fans is nothing. No man is bigger than the club.

I'm not sure I'd class it as a massive achievement getting to the CL group stages. A great achievement, yes. A massive achievement, for me, would be getting to the last 16.

    Aye? That's no like ye.

    Yes or no answers please.

Would you expect Celtic to beat Cliftonville over two legs?

Would you expect Celtic to beat Elfsborg over two legs?

Would you expect Celtic to beat Karagandy over two legs?

No spin such as "we've lost to worst teams in the past so no". The answer is pretty obvious and you know it.

What I am getting at, is where does the sense of achievement come from?

It is great to be in the champions league but I would not say that Celtic scraping by the likes of Elfsborg and Karagandy is a massive achievement. Beating a smaller, poorer, club than your own isn't a massive achievement. Id say we should expect that and be happy when we win. So that being the case, seeing as the league is a walk and these are the teams we beat to get there, I don't think qualification can be considered a "massive achievement".

But following the exact same principle I don't think there is any great disgrace in finishing 4th in the group we had this season. Both outcomes should really have been expected.

Beating Cliftonville, elfsborg and karagandy isn't an achievement. It's a minimum requirement. We only just made it past the latter two as well.

This season has been a failure imo

We beat THREE opposition teams over SIX games that we were drawn against, I don't see what is so demeaning about that?

Not saying it's amongst the greatest achievements of the clubs history, but it's pretty clear to see why gaining entry to the CL this season (and any season for that matter) is imperative if we are going to progress as a club.

It was an achievement to be proud of.........especially considering the final qualifying game!

Sums up the pro Lennon brigade for me....Can't see the big picture.. Lennon is so out of his league with us it is not funny and no amount of league or wins against Cliftonville etc will change that for me....

We are going backwards with him....
