Gerard Butler's bad for sounding broadly Scottish 1 minute and then literally the next sentence he says is with a full on American accent. Is he not from * Paisley as well? :smiley-laughing002:

    On that we can agree.

I've never changed my accent, if anything when I'm elsewhere in the UK it gets stronger, although I do tone it down when I'm abroad.

Although I work with a pair of Geordies and do a lot of work down there and after a week on site I find myself using their words and phrases but in my own accent. Even said 'Why, Aye' in the pub once, had to have a word with myself.

We're being watered down, in 50 years time we'll be talking like them from Edinburgh.

40 years ago people used stuff like "scullery, lavy, loabie, donner" and that that have near disappeared.

Bet 50 years time we'll be callin pieces - sandwiches, wee - little and greetin - crying. "My little brother dropped his sandwiches and started crying". :38:

I don't really speak like I'm from...well...anywhere, I don't have a accent that you could tag to a particular town/city or even area. It's Scottish of course and I'll say "Aye, naw, wee etc etc" most of the generally scottish slang. But I think that'll always be there, maybe some more traditional words will disappear. There will certainly still be some slang in 50 years.

I can assure you, when I have kids, they'll be getting a piece for there packed lunch, not a * sandwich :smiley-laughing002:

'I thought you wanted a juice mate?' 'Yeah a juice not fizzy' :56:
Strange people, take it or leave it..

You'd end up * yourself and telling 'nancy boy' to do one :bbpd:

I feel your pain bro,it's probably theee worst accent in Scotland..

Ill sound like someone from Alexandria for the rest of my life. It's not something you can change. If you can change your accent then you are a fake person. Thats pretty much that. You're * cringeworthy.

I run into polish people in Ireland who have Irish accents. They say they've only been there 4 or 8 years. I just think what the actual *.

I know a guy who moved here as a 10 year old with a strong Yorkshire accent, 10 years later and he has a staunch Glasgow accent.

But then I also know a girl who moved here 10 years ago (also from Yorkshire strangely) and her accent is still Charles Green'd oot its nut.
