    Nah, don't work on the BT network. We're no allowed to touch it, deal with everything beyond the termination point.

    Pain in the * innit?

    We sell the broadband but don't own the network. Telecoms company so we do broadband, phone lines, telephone systems, VOIP, hosting e-mails/websites, mobiles, Data SIM's, tablets and all that jazz.

    If your downloading torrents and have broadband thro ur phone line - Virgin and sky throttle them during peak times. I downloaded skyrim yesterday at an average of 1.1 Mb/s thro steam, if I had used a torrent - it gets limited at 10kb/s during peak times. Ridiculous

    Well that was great, after finally getting someone, he told me it was Skys content capping that was the problem and there is nothing I can do about it. Just need to wait 3 days for Battlefield to download then. :rolleyes:

    Bought Battlefield off Origin, so not a torrent, probably capping it anyway.

    * sky.

    On a side note guys,about routers is there any point in buying one or are the shop sold ones no better than what BT,sky,talk talk ect offer when you sign up.
    Talktalk are sending me a new one as i have just signed up for another year, are they all more or less the same or can you buy better and improve speeds.

    Virgin Media internet is very good- have up to 60mb internet, plus the tele tivo box, £40 a month. Well worth it.

    I sat here reading this full thread with a smirk on my face whilst stroking my Virgin Super Hub:smiley-laughing002:

    On a serious note tho I had this same issue with a TalkTalk last year. The speeds i got were so low down to the exchange being so far away. I was lucky and managed to get fibre but I'm guessing that isnt a option for you?

    If it is ring them up, tell them to get someone to pick up the equipment, phone the bank and cancel the direct debit and then phone Virgin.....sorted.

    If I had to do this quiet line test and note down times in which the connection dropped while paying 50quid a month I would be seriously *.

    3 days is standard for home phone lines. Broadbands on 'best efforts' so you don't really have a fix time on them, which is pretty *.
