Sounds too good to be true.

  5. What? When did he live in Scotland and why?

  6. close this * thread.

at this stage if he ever does sign and doesnt score 500 million billion goals in the first week and win us the inter planetary galactic champions league single handedly then * on here will be disappointed.

theres better and cheaper out there.

  7. Naah no finny for me.hes a poor mans Pukki:smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002::smiley-laughing002:

  8. Would actually go for this. I'm a Pukki fan but if we're to sign another striker I'd say we need to offload at least 2 attacking players.

Player + cash kills two birds with one stone.

  9. Herenveen scouts spotted watching Watt.

Aye watching Jim Watt doing commentary on the boxing :boxing:

  11. Just reading through that thread the now. Jesus Christ, have never seen so much love and excitement about a player who's never even signed. Kind of sad in a way hahaha. Working on a screencap collage.

    * it, I'm gonna get the ball rolling on this thread (that's never going to disappear) with some controversy.

I think Celtic should just splash the £5-8 mill on this guy - the way I see it the board can't possibly lose.

    - If it works out, the board and management look like geniuses for taking a bit of a mad gamble. Finbogasson rips it up in the league, we reach the CL last 16 three seasons running and they double their money in 2017 when Everton, Norwich or some Russian club who like the Scottish market come in for him. Everybody's happy.
    - If it fails the board can point the finger of "I told you so" and effectively silence dissenters who believe they're too prudent. The board have hard evidence to show that even big name signings that on paper are failsafe are too much of a gamble, and the ridiculous myth that came to perpetuate itself that spending more than a couple of million on a player might lead us down the path Rangers ended up in can continue.
    - In addition, splashing £5 mill on one player means the board and management could be excused for not signing anyone else. Therefore there's less effort required: You sign him as the only real transfer and replace sold players on a one-in-one-out basis for less than you sell for and move on.

Me personally, I like the prudent signing policy. But I also accept that sometimes - not often, just once in a while like e.g. once every 3 or 4 years - you need to pay for quality. The fact we've had so many strikers come and go is worrying and for the sum total we've paid we might as well have spent a single bomb on one player. Plug the gap for a few years like we did with Hooper and move on.

The thread that never dies! This boat was missed and sailed 12 months ago. Out of our price range now.

  13. If this is true (they could well have been watching another player), then I'd try to offer them Watt, Pukki and £3m. Two young strikers with potential and Champions League experience, and a fee that's sizeable by our standards for a guy who has a similar strike rate to Samaras when he was in the same league - that's a great deal for them imo.

EDIT: I'm wrong on the Samaras thing; checked Wiki after I posted. Point still stands!

  14. So a guy whose goal tally for this season is just behind Suarez and Ronaldo and has all of Europe to choose from, is going to come and play for most of the season against the likes of (no offense) Ross County, St Mirren, Killie etc ??? If he said 'Yes', he would fail the medical on grounds of insanity!!

  15. Whoa anyone know if this is a legit and credible source? I can't be arsed signing up but here's as much as I could copy and paste:

Never gonna give you up - Celtic launch record breaking £10M bid for Icelandic Star Alfred Finnbogason.

Sources inside Celtic Park claim that a deal has been agreed in principle to bring long-term target Alfred Finnbogason to Celtic in what would be a record breaking transfer deal for the Scottish giants. The Icelandic international striker has scored 53 goals in 62 appearances in his two seasons at Heerenveen but looks set to leave the...
