The Republican movement creation in Ireland was majority Protestant. I agree I would say a majority is catholic.

Who is insinuated its a Irish Republican organisation?

Obviously not, if people of a certain political group aren't welcome

The open to all crap never seems to extend to Irish Republicans.

you said that Celtic supporters were getting stabbed and murdered because the other lot think we are terrorist loving scumbags.

Why do they think that? Because we sing the songs, ergo you think they wouldn't kill us if we didn't sing the songs?

    Am I getting there?

And you are living in cloud cuckoo land if you think that's the only reason why the hate us.

I was not saying you are flip flopping (that is one thing you have never done as far as I have seen on here).
The point I was making was people are attacking him as a "man" when I dont think he is anything other than businessman when it comes to Celtic.
I have said before, I back Lawwell, however in this case he has got it wrong but this bill was not made by him and he only looks to protect Celtic Like you are looking to protect Celtic, Just both are looking at it from opposite view's You heritage etc, Him sponsorship/not getting fined etc.

Hopefully that is explained well enough, as this thread is going so fast I am typing as quick as I can and not thinking the reply out as well as I would like:52:

Celtic were founded as a political statement. Despite it all we are still here

The songs are appropriate at the football, people get offended at anything now, its not stupid singing about IRA (Any of the IRA Groups). We are there to watch and support the team, yes indeed we are in any way we can including some rousing rebel songs that lift the team and get some of the crowd going. Decades of Celtic sides have been motivated by Republican songs... If you dont get offended why say these things? Especially when you say you aint worried about the IRA stuff (Republican Historical Cultural songs). And then you dont want to be affiliated with it? What songs are banned? :87:

You don't have to have any connection about Ireland to support and sing about what the IRA has/had done???

Flower of Scotland is rarely(if ever) sung at any Scottish football matches other than the national team. If our fans started singing it during the middle of a game I would find it strange and out of place just like when the Irish national anthem is sung. I have absolutely no problem with it being sung at national games. The main song (unless I'm forgetting any) that I'm on about is Boys of the Old Brigade. I would have included The Celtic Symphony however as you have said some of the words were changed to make it more appropriate.

The thing is that I don't have a real problem with the songs, this is just where this has been moved towards. The main thing which I started off mentioning was the displays, they are what I think needs to stop the most.

I still stand by what I said in my original post
