Does Lawwell have any evidence to back up this statement?
He is excellent at managing the business side of Celtic, but his dealings with supporters have been ridiculously bad.

If they are a non political organization why do Celtic PLC donate money to the Poppy appeal or wear the poppy on the hoops?

An excellent post. Not everyone has to be mired in the political scene to support Celtic, but they should respect it enough to allow those who hold such feelings close to their heart to make themselves heard.

    What defines 'political'?

For me Fields of Athenry and Let the People Sing fall under this category? Does Aiden Mcanespie?

In general terms "political" can apply to a lot of things. In this instance I'd apply it to Irish Republican politics.

That is what the board are railing against after all.

... does the aforementioned still fit into them? Rebelling against the crown, a song in rememberance about a young Irish boy murdered by British Troops and a song about allowing people to sing aforementioned Republican songs?

I'm just surprised Lawwell didn't have the cheek to use this issue and the possibility of a fine as an excuse not to pay the living wage!

I don't know how Lawwell and Co can come away with comments like 'more than a club', 'a club like no other', 'the Celtic Family' etc while keeping a straight a face.

They did say "ANY political banners and people will be banned for life".

It would be nice to test their resolve with an anti racism banner or something like that.

Also will be able to have another An Gorta Mór banner in future?

Banned for life are the words. Anyone banned for any political action, & I'm not interested anymore. More than a club my *.

In a general sense, yes. The uninitiated would certainly consider them to be so, wouldn't they? So I'd say they are.

    I would think so.

I would also think the De Valera tri-colour above the stadium is a great political statement.

Just as well the turf from Michael Davitt is long gone or we would need to be digging the pitch up.

Brother Walfrid, John Glass and other founding fathers in the Calton, St Mary's Church sang together '* Save Ireland'

Key point..But glad to know they would be banned from the ground. Can we just remove all flags and rename the club Peter Lawell FC.

Being anti-racist and remembering the famine is not political imo. I fully endorse both.

    Both are very political.
