Not sure, but always found certain areas in the north of the city to be far more frightening than the east end.

Yes, I'd certainly say it is more wilder up in places like Springburn, Possil etc than Calton, Brigton, Parkhead etc.

Certain parts of Parkhead used to be a no go area, stories my Ma used to come out with when she was a youth worker there was just sheer evil.

My granddad and my gran both lived off Saracen St and met in the 40s. Family have been in Glasgow since the 1910s. One thing is for sure - north side or east end, they must have lived in a VERY, VERY different city.

How is Arden even its own area. It's * tiny. It's like 3 streets.

Would love to go back and see Glasgow at its Victorian peak, before all the old tenements were pulled down. The areas we know as wide open spaces must have been grossly overpopulated! I imagine it being kinda like Gangs of New York. Would also loved to have seen Charing Cross before the Glasgow Corporation pulled down the old mansions and made a pig's ear of it!

Funny that, I've not realised it till you said that but not seen it in a couple of years at least.

Used to see it constantly as well.

I don't think they are, I think they were trying to but a good few * in it were holding out for more money and then they just decided they didn't need to and expanded the athletes village at Dalmarnock.

Royston Road is one of the biggest Celtic areas, 2 separate buses leave from there for games. There used to be a pub called the Huddle Club (or Bar not 100% sure) but it burnt down, there's still the Garngad bar across the road though.

You don't see as much neds anymore, even like 5 years ago there was more. I've not heard of "gangs" fighting in my area/school for years. Quite strange, as there used to be tonnes and everyone knew who was in whatever gang and from where, now you wouldn't have a clue.

I wouldn't consider where I live (Dennistoun) to be a deprived area overall tbh.

EDIT: the street where I live is considered not deprived but the area overall is. Oh well no bad
