Balde is clumsy and has questionable decision making. However I would still pick him over pressley. Pressley seems to have this crazy idea that giving away free kicks is a good thing to do if your in trouble. The only reason he has to commit this stupid free kicks is down to not having the legs to win a tackle or not having the brain to read a situation. Sick and tired of hearing and reading journalists/pundits saying "great experience etc". Does Pressley deserve to play more than Kennedy or O'Dea just cos his more experienced? It must be based on ability and not age or the amount of games played.

 

My Grandad's very experienced but i don't think he should be in the team.

Thats it, he will always try and has done very well to get so far in the game with limited talent but his time at the top has to stop now. He shouldnt be play for celtic or scotland. In the modern game pace is so vital. Unless u are an amazing reader of the game (Hyppia, Puyol, Cannaravo, Terry, Carragher and even those guys struggle when a player is in behind them) then without pace u are screwed. Pace allows u recover from mistakes and allows a side to press further up the field without the worry of leaving space in behind. With pressley a striker doesnt even have to be super quick to get past him as his so slow. If your going to play someone with a lack of pace then the partner has to be quick. Playing 2 defenders who cant run is suicide.

 

Balde is clummsy and does make questionable decisions however he is better than pressley in every department and so is Kennedy, Odea and Mcmanus. However I do agree that experiance is needed especialy at centre back as it is unfair to ask kennedy who is just back from injury and Odea who is just a kid although has huge potential to be stallwarts all season. If that experiance doest come from balde then we need to buy a quality centre back because if pressley gets his hands on our kids then * help the cos he has made a career out of being a slow pobdorous serial fowler it has nothing to do with his age he just always been a diddy

 

Did people see how easily Pressley was outpaced by Blanco in the Chicago Fire match?Blanco is 34 FFS.That is extremly feckin worrying,especially as Strachan obviously thinks the sun shines out of Pressleys *

no offense, i hope he picks up a long term injury this season, for the sake of Celtic and Scotland....dunno why McLeish and Strachan sticks with this guy. Every time I see his name on the team sheets i get * off...send him back to Hearts...he can also take Hartley with him....and if possible also Gravesen and Miller.

Actaully I have a better idea...send Pressley and Miller back to the Huns...I am sure that Walter will take him

 

Pressely stuff is a bit harsh. The simple fact is his legs have gone along with what little pace he had. He is not a bad player at all, just a very slow one and you cant get away with that, even sometimes in the SPL. He would be murdered in the CL. If he had some pace, his experience would be invaluable but he couldnt run to save himself from a rabid hedgehog.

 

I wouldn't wish injury on him but he's a disaster.he's the only defender i've ever seen dive in his own penalty box looking for a free.And a 36 yr old Dunfermline attacker was outpacing him ffs.
Get rid sharpish

 

Pressley is probably our worst cb. I would play any cb ahead of him. Elvis as new celtic captain isn't only a bad choice, it would be a disaster and a disgrace as well.

have to agree mate, i think someone in another post somewhere made the point he was bought to do a job last season at a time when we probably needed another CB with experience. cant see him starting this season.

Experience does not make him a good player. There are other defenders who lack pace but they can read the game and have positional sense. Pressley doesnt even have these abilities. His useless and has never been a good player.

 

I dont think he should start during the season at all. But I am paralyzed in fear that he will start for us. Our manager seems to think he is a great defender when in all honesty I can cover better than him. Ha! HA! He is far too slow for the Champions League and even for some SPL teams! I think he should just be a backup that can come in against mediocre Scottish sides. But I swear if I see him in the Champions League!

I think WGS sees him as some sort of slow but clever old head but I am not so sure. He did look good in his first few for us but he then lost it. To be honest I thought he was one of our better players against Chicago Fire but I dont want to encourage picking him. I still think the best defender at the cliub is JFK but he needs games. Mick-JFK should be our first picks.
