I'm just surmising but I reckon his biggest decision tonight will be whether to play Matthews at right mid or at left back and drop Emilio. Matthews was rock solid there against Barca last season and, by Lenny's own admission, is our best one on one defender. Emilio on the other hand is getting worse from a defensive point of view.

That being said Matthews played very well on the right against Milan and could be a huge weapon on the counter against Barca so it's a toss up really.

Apparently Forrest and Kayal are back to fitness. Can't wait to see the team tonight.

If Iza starts, then take one look at where every single ball will get pumped - that for me answers your question concerning where it would be better for Matthews to start. If Iza gets a game, they will try from the first whistle to target him and tear him a new hole, IMO.

I'd tend to agree with that and given we also have several options at right mid it will probably (hopefully) see Matthews at full back.

Problem with them aiming everything down our left would be it either drags a centre half out to cover for him or more than likely Mulgrew and that's when Barca will rip us to shreds - with or without Messi.

Personal thoughts for many days now have been "Matthews LB" - especially bearing in mind, as you have said, Iza seems to be getting * WORSE not better defensively.

Agree with this and especially if Sammy plays in front of him.

I'd be surprised if Kayal started considering he's been out for a while and has also not been any where near his best for a long time now- you never know though.

Kayal on first season form in the middle of the park is what we need:54:

Like you say mate he'd be a waste of a jersey. In fact, he'd be a waste of a bench spot on his most recent form.

If we got the Kayal that played Juve away I'd have no qualms.

This is what it is all about. Nerves, excitement, apprehension to name a few.

    Absolutely buzzing for this.

He only looked a bit better than his poor usual self because Juventus weren't closing us down quickly since the tie was long over. He had several chances to get a shot on target and fluffed every one of them, his shooting is dreadful.

I can't believe some people are putting him in their starting 11, there's no chance he'll start and rightly so.

He was exceptional Juve away, his closing down, compusire on the ball and passing were excellent. His shooting is dreadful but oicking that out of his performance on that night is dreadfully unfair on him.

I wouldn't have him in the starting 11; due to him being out with injury for a while but I was pointing out he has played well at this level previously.

I'm sure whoever plays tonight will give 100% and whatever will be will be.

I'm under no illusions about the task at hand tonight.

It was essentially a dead rubber though, tempo was slow and and they were happy for us to have possession and pick us off. It was probably his best game in the last 2 years but his other performances have been way too mediocre to consider him. If he hadn't had a superb debut season I think he would have been sold by now. He's been a poor to average player for a long time.

Agreed but comments like this are not helping, I'm having palpitations already. My leg is jigging away :56:
