I think being a member of the eu, our employment and religious rights would be pretty much safeguarded.

Yes they should be, and in a normal society it would not be an issue. However as has been witnessed, with a certain club that died, somethings do appear to be overlooked. While not a great example it kinda says something.

There is very little hatred towards Catholics in Scotland minus some of the huns. Nobody cares if your protestant or Catholic. In an independent Scotland, hopefully some the queen loving, british * huns will move south and get the * out of this country.

I'd like to hear an actual argument against independence from one of these 48 that isn't "GSTQ WATP NO SURRENDER!!!"

I doubt they'd have an argument other than their British identity being taken away, that is obviously more important than the wellbeing of the country etc :87:

It's now pretty much a 22 page thread about what the word "taig" means - some members were calling others "taigs" for saying they would vote yes... :87:

I don't think being a "taig" has anything to do with this. :50:

Anti-Catholism is wide spread in Scotland. Whether its' out and out or subtlety done, it is a huge problem.

Shame you're keeping the English Queen as your head of state and you yourself championing the Commonwealth games.

That's utter nonsense, you ever visited Scotland apart from Glasgow.I would say it's only an issue in the Central belt area and smaller towns towards the coast from Glasgow.

Yes. I have visited Edinburgh and Largs.

It's treated as a matter of opinion. And my opinion is that it is a problem that stretches across Scotland and indeed England.

    This topic is fascinating.
Let's face it, Scotland is a socialist state in all but name. For progress they need to leave the UK and go off on their own.

In Terms of the question I would vote 1.yes 2. no. Can't vote in the real thing btw.

The Nats need to get clear answers to the serious questions like Tax, welfare, national debt etc. two of the large Scottish banks are nationalised, oil ownership and rights would need to be clarified.

Personally if they do get independence they need to run a model based on a mix of Switzerland and Sweden. The business and banking model of Switzerland and the social model if Sweden.

The only major losers in the independence issue are labour who will lose 40 odd seats in westminster. The tories know this and will be secretly hoping for a Large YES vote.
This in turn will lead to a widening share of the vote in England, leading to gains for Lib Dems, UKIP and hopefully the Green Party.

A very interesting couple of years politically.

    How is it?

And Scotland will not become a mild Venezuela should independence be gained.

The fear amongst Unionists is that after independence Alex Salmond will cryogenically freeze himself so he can stay around for another 300 years.

On a more serious note those are encouraging statistics. :50:

Shock horror from Sevco Media mind you. :smiley-laughing002:

I wonder how aware they are of the whole debate or if it's just ramblings of British identity, effectively down-talking their own SCOTTISH identity at every given opportunity.

I dont think its wide spread ,although i have unfortunately experienced it firsthand, however that was from a total * joke of a * who no one would listen to anyway (although he did have problems speaking for a few days, I believe ).
I agree it is probably more of an issue in the west coast/central belt, although I guess, that could be a significant % though, that may have a problem with it. However it should not be a problem, as people who have these attitudes are highly unlikely to have much power, although they may use it to serve you slowly in the chip shop or tesco I guess :smiley-laughing002:

I was waiting for you to repeat this drivel. Wide spread? Nope, its mainly centralised in Glasgow and even this isn't a huge issue, it's just emphasised by football. Said it before and I will have to say it again.. the vote on keeping the queen as head of state would be after the referendum if we vote YES.

I am indeed for the Commonwealth games. Mainly because I'm happy with whats happening the east end of Glasgow because of it. It is having a positive impact on Celtic aswell as Parkhead is longer surrounded by a shithole. This gives the club a much better image and helps attract sports fans and any tourist to Celtic Park therefore bringing in more money. Although your hatred of everything to do with the evil British empire clearly gets in the way of your support for Celtic.

And during your visits to Edinburgh and Largs what showed you this discrimination towards Catholics? Did a hun smell your catholic scent and instantly start shouting insults? Bullshit. No chance you could go on a visit and then just come to the conclusion that the issue is wide spread.

EDIT: 'Catholic scent' was used sarcastically as I realise it appears cuntish.
