So how much would Messi cost, using your theories here?

It is a very simple question.

    Something unthinkable like £150,000,000.00 - £200,000,000.00

2 appearances, 1 goal...need some catching up to do if he's to equal Messi or Ronaldo's goals to game ratio...only 0.5 :icon_mrgreen:

If any club wanted to sign Messi the cost would be €250 million, simple as that.

That is the buy out clause in his new contract that runs until 2016, so any club willing to pay that would trigger the clause, giving them permission to speak to him.

Whether he agreed to leave right enough is another matter...

Yup, €250m. Was surprised that only one other person in this thread knew that.

The transfer fee required to sign Messi is nothing compared to that required to sign Ronaldo though.

€1 billion is the fee, and that doesn't include having to match his after-tax salary of €1.75 million per month.

A think most knew that. Didn't Anzhi come in with a 250 million bid but he refused to speak to them?

Yeah sure I heard something like that recently, £205m(€250m) and €560,000 p/w. Somehow not surprising he didn't accept it.

It'll take a lot to get him to move from Barcelona I feel. I wouldn't be surprised if his next move is when he's in his mid 30's back to Argentina.

I think he'll be at Barcelona until the day he retires - then in some coaching capacity after. He's been at Barça since he was what? Eleven? Barcelona is probable more of his home than Rosario now, seeing that he has spent longer there.

Saying that, I think Newell's is the only club he would consider moving to.

He's claimed that he will play for Newell's at some point in his career, which may lead to him cutting his coaching teeth there, but you're right, he'll be back at Barcelona in some capacity after he finishes playing.
