Eventually they might, but let's face it, he's not Beckham or Ronaldo, is he?

Meissi is meant to be near that already. I read somewhere last year that with his image rights etc, he was on £465k per week.

I'd be surprised if people flock to buy shirts with Bale on. As I would if more people tuned in to watch Madrid.

    What has he done?

    I am truly bewildered here.

Becham ended up on £500k a week with LA Galacy due to image rights and that.

Disgusting to think any one person is making that amount of money.

Yes, which is why, despite his somewhat limited ability as a footballer, Beckham was worth the money Madrid paid for him.

I don't see where Bale is worth that kind of money? Simply from a footballing sense there are far better players to be had, in far more urgent positions.

He's not worth the fee being touted, however, to suggest he is not a good footballer or that he hasn't 'done anything' is a nonsense.

He's worth a third of his fee but he is world class.

Any idea how much a club gets per shirt?

Apparently we're up there with the top ten clubs in Europe for shirt sales (in a good season):

    http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/10/08/exclusive-manchester-united-and-real-madrid-top-global-shirt-sale-charts-081001/

"Celtic (a Nike club) are believed to be the biggest sellers among Scotland’s clubs, with “good year” sales at the lower end of the top 10, ie: several hundred thousand per year, many of them overseas in North America, Canada and Australia."

A lot depends on bonuses and performances in Europe mate. It's not a simple contract.

    Targets hit etc etc.

If bale is worth £90+ million the Messi is worth about £250 million.

I know money in football today is disgraceful but the fee reportedly being paid for Bale makes me sick. He's had one very good season and about 2 or 3 others where he played well.

For all we know, last season was a one off.

    Hope he flops big time.

Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Van Persie, Ozil, Di Maria & Soldado are better overall if hes worth £94 million Messi/Ronaldo must be worth £94 billion

Wouldn't say Soldado or Ozil are better.

    Definitely not Di Maria either.

I'd rather have Ozil than Bale to be fair.

Bale has been massively overrated by the arseholes down in England.

I wouldn't Ozil struggles to go for 90 minutes for me, very good, very technical player. Bale is more of a match winner though.

I agree he has been overrated but he is extremely underrated by people on here due to the hype down south. People will start to agree on just how good he is when he goes to Real.

Not £94m worth of talent but avery good player nontheless.

Chris Waddle was on Radio 5 Live last night, he said that Bale wasn`t in the same class as Messi and Ronaldo. He also said that Bale has been impressive on a consistent basis for the last few months of last season and has shown his ability in fleeting spells over the last year and a half. I agree with what Waddle said.

Messi and Ronaldo have been doing so week in week out for years now.

In my own personal opinion, I don`t rate him as better than Hazard, Silva or Mata.

There's no doubt that he's a great footballer but, forgetting the fee right now, he still isn't good enough for Madrid.

Another player down south who I feel is better, yet isn't talked about half as much, is Mata. Fantastic player who could play for any team on the planet.

Currently Messi is priceless, yes he has a 250 mill buy-out clause but in terms of getting him to sign a contract with another club?

At the moment I doubt he would leave Barca for any amount of money.
