No offence, but I would say overall Austrian Bundesliga is a better league than SPL. I've seen a lot of Salzburg games in the last two years since they signed the Slovenian midfielder Kevin Kampl (who, by the way, is one of the main reasons for Soriano's goalscoring record) and I've also watched the Dinamo Zagreb - Austria game on Wednesday where the Austrians have outplayed a strong Dinamo side in the middle of Zagreb and won 2:0. (And by the way, the idolised Hosiner wasn't even on the scoresheet.) Then there's Rapid who is also a good side and Sturm who at the moment is a bit shaky but will probably soon start producing better resulsts as they have changed their trainer at the start of the season and probably need a few weeks to get used to the change.

Also I think RBS can offer Soriano a better deal than Celtic could or would be prepared to offer.

And if not, the best we can hope for is nothing. Better than panic buys like those of Arsenal after their 2:8 defeat.

I dont know anything about the guy or the standard or Austrian football but his stats look good but I will trust Mr Park to find us a goal scorer

He looks like a very accomplished striker similar to Hooper and he can take a good Pen!

Would love to see him here.

Hope bishop Crosas tells him what it's like to be a Celt!

We probably won't sign anybody remotely exciting.

Don't see it happening at all, great scoring record though.

After all the strikers we've been linked with, I'm not even going to get excited unless he signs. A very good player Soriano is, but I get the feeling we won't go for him and go for some * Championship striker instead. That's how far my confidence has fallen.

You quite clearly got a bit over excited about Finnbogasson :smiley-laughing002:

soriano is a bit old imo, if he was 2 million or less then fine, anything more is throwing money away

Hate this 'logic'. He'll be 28 next month, not exactly old.

If we were to spend £3 million + on him and he fired us to the CL next season, then he has repaid his fee.

Exactly 28 too old ffs! We don't have to buy a player based on how much we can sell him for. Some have been totally brainwashed :31:

By the looks of his scoring record he is in his prime, never mind old. Purely on his goals the last 2 or 3 seasons he, on paper, would be a great buy for us.

Could be a very good buy. We have enough young forwards of our own to develop, a guy with experience who's been around a bit is what we need :50:

Coming into his prime as a player, could be a very good signing, add a bit more experience up top, brilliant goal scoring record.
