Whether we like it or not, the demise - and oh how I revelled in their demise, still do - of ranjurs is a factor in the way our club is eing run. Someone said on here earlier, trophies on the cheap, that's how it is and will continue to be until their is a strong challenge from another club for the title.
I too am beginning to lose interest at times. CL was the games that made me sit up. The games that brought excitement, passion....

Anyway, still * off about last night!

Lawwell is the constant factor in our demise as a club, he is a " Moneyman " first and foremost, we get the normal " Celtic Family * " when he wants our money for the season tickets and new strips, so make no mistake the balance book is all that matters to Lawwell and Dermot Desmond.

His stance towards the GB is more understandable, he has to be seen as CEO of Celtic FC PLC to be bringing them into line, afterall politics has and should never have no place in football.

So let's keep the focus on Lawwell and his inability to free up sufficient funds soon enough to allow Lennon adequate time to prepare correctly for this seasons CL campaign, he knew he was selling Hooper & Wanyama months ago, he knew we faced three qualifying rounds too, so why delay rebuilding our team ?

    yada yada yada...

One bad (ok very * bad) result and now it's the death of Celtic, no-one can be arsed, the club is dying, football is dying etc. etc. etc.

This thread would not have been seen if we'd won or even drawn last night, no doubt whatsoever. If we beat the Kazakhs 4-0 next week you'll all be basking in the glory well until the next defeat...

The thing that has * us up is not being able to say to players we had, that were good in Europe - their's 40k a week.

Even if they go they needed replacing and we should have been going to Belgium and spending the money on a replacement for Wanyama, Spending £4million on a right good striker and using whatever was left on quality players available at knock down prices.

People maybe laugh at talk of guys like Mathoho. Ojamaa, Russell or Mackay-Steven, but that's maybe £3.5million that could have sorted this team out.

Certainly Russell would have been a good one, because it would have shown that the club are listening to what the fans want.

Lawwell has banned the Green Brigade? Now that is probably just a handful of supporters that needed sorting out, not the whole group.

From here i think a lot of fans have been disillusioned for a while and it really comes down to the club not listening to what the fans want and the football on the pitch being the same week-in, week-out. Not enough goals, not enough attacking options in midfield.
We've added 2 bombscares at center back, a target man who isn't getting a regular game and Boerrigter who does actually look like a quality player.

The simple fact of the matter is, we should have picked up the players when they were available and i'd have started with guys from the spl that we knew about, one or two from England first. We had a good group of UK based players and the moral was good, signing Mouyokolo, Dijk and Balde has done nothing for the moral inside the dressing room. Especially when you look at the characters who left.

I'm maybe deluded, but i still think we can take three goals off them at Celtic park, i'm just not overly confident we can keep them out at the other end.

(1)The board consensus will be minimal investment whilst the competition in our domestic league is weak.

(2)Management of a squad capable of returning to Champions League group stages with minimal investment.

(3)Stockpile revenue until the domestic competition is strong or reinvest in (4) if qualification to Champions League is achieved.

(4)Maximise profit from developing cost efficient young players with experienced coaching staff in a successful winning environment domestically and with experience in the top European competition which generates player awareness in other markets and inflates player value.

This structure will naturally not allow the development of a squad over a sustained number of seasons.
This structure should help attract players that are young and have a lot of potential but also ambition to play in a top league for a higher earning potential.
Some of these players will achieve take goal quicker than others.

From a supporter/fan perspective this structure is a poor one. It's a purely business driven model which owes no passion, unity or bonding with the club and fans. Yes short term we believe they love the club and they are heroes to many.
The inevitable is the long term plan. The fan is respected and noted as the lifeblood but in reality, as they are told this and led to believe this. In the end the fan is last on the list of priorities.

So Sirs/Madams. If your feeling the way described in the initial post. I firmly believe this is why... What you choose to do personally.. That is another question?

The board are slowly but surely driving the supporters away. They are creating a big divide between those supporting the GB and those against the GB.

Not only that though, but the lack of spending in this transfer window is being heavily criticized by all corners of the Celtic support, especially in light of last night's horrific defeat. We have made approximately £20m from the transfers of VW, GH and KW, yet the money has not been used to buy adequate replacements for three first team players that we've lost.

Instead, we've brought in a young centre back who looked hopeless last night, a seemingly injury prone left winger, and a target man who has been described by his own manager as 'raw' and who wasn't brought on until the 82nd minute last night, when we were already 2-0 down.

It's not good enough and I'm beginning to understand why some people are losing interest in paying all of that money to attend games. 'Keep the faith' only goes so far. If things don't start improving, it's time to oust the board like we did 20 years ago and get in people who will actually invest in the club to give us a realistic chance of playing in the Champions League consistently, season after season.

I really wish people would stop using the GB as a way to bash the club. They are not the messiahs, they are a group of fans. In stead of relying on them creating an atmosphere, it should be all of our duty to get behind the club. Not just a group of fans.

Anyways, Just for the record, I have no opinion on that matter. But I do not see why people use it as a reason to lose interest, are you GB supporters or Celtic supporters?

There has been a lot of different things that effect the feeling of supporting Celtic, but most of all it is a mixture of the demise of our cheating competition and the lack of proper restructuring of our game when they had the chance.

We now rely on European football to give us a reason to pack paradise out to the rafters and that now looks in danger.

People are giving stick to Pete and the board, we cannot entice players to come to this club that will improve it, that is blatantly obvious and we are not going to put the financial stability of the club at risk to do so.

Have I lost interest? No, I will always love Celtic and literally they could be playing any match and I will be there supporting them but is the situation in which are in exciting? It certainly is not.

We have no competition, we have no drive, we have a boring singular direction domestic competition in which we would probably win with our development team. The sad thing is, there seems no light at the end of this tunnel.

Bottom line, there needs to be massive changes.

I have to admit I struggled to maintain interest last season after the CL run ended. We really, really need CL football to keep the fans and the players motivated.

My support of Celtic will never waver however i'ts never always going to be rosie in Paradise.I speak from someone who experienced the nightmare years where we were cheated out of cups and titles by our now defunct neighbours wreckless spending sprees.
I do believe decisions are made in the best intrests of the club by our directors/PL etc.. I don't and won't always agree with them.
Politics aside, financially Celtic operate in an eviroment where the funds/TV money are short, if we compare ourselves with the Man Utd's of this world how can we expect to compete against the cash cow of the EPL when we draw their teams in Europe but hey! sometimes we do beat them although the chances of doing that on a regular basis are heavily stacked against us.
It can be * frustrating following our beloved club at times..we all have high hopes and dreams for Celtic, my advice is Keep the Faith :shamrock:

Supporters have the right to be upset though.

It's insulting to throw out the sarcastic 'faithful through and through' line when paying customers express their grievances at the poor job the people running this club are currently doing.

I don't particularly support Celtic as a whole anymore. I still love with all my heart the team and will give them my utmost support - as well as criticism if/when I feel it deserved.

The support is no longer united - proven by the fact that there ARE people who support THE CLUB that are absolutely desperate to persecute members of their supposed fellow supporters at every opportunity. And let's not forget how those who run the club have treated certain groups, as well as INDIVIDUALS, who fund the club. I used to believe in the whole notion that we were the best support in the world, and that our support was some sort of a "UNITED FAMILY" - is it *..........well, at least not anymore.

    Ah, * it.

Of course they have the right to be upset, I am upset after last night but to say you're basically done with Celtic because we haven't done this or that smacks of gloryhunting.

The people running the club were lauded to high heaven less than a month ago for a good transfer policy of buying young and cheap and selling high, they were lauded for putting Celtic in a good financial position when we are in a non-descript league with no competition and now they are the spawn of Satan because we lost one match.

People lose interest in the club because it is becoming more and more distant from its lifeblood and what makes Celtic, Celtic: the supporters.

The Green Brigade are Celtic supporters like the rest of us and contrary to some of the views on here, they don't have a superiority complex, despite the incredible support they give the club. They're ultras; they go beyond what most supporters do in terms of vocal support, displays, etc. but that doesn't mean they think they're better than anyone. I really hate that attitude. Be thankful we have that element in our support instead of seeing them "outside" of the rest of the support.

I agree that it should be up to all of us to contribute to the atmosphere but without a group leading it (not even necessarily the Green Brigade), there's no cohesion & the singing dies out after a few lines because very few people are going to stand up & risk making a * of themselves by starting a song. The atmosphere at domestic games at Celtic Park without the Green Brigade is virtually non-existent, despite people's claims that they're not needed. I'm hoping the game against Shakhter will be different but the atmosphere will certainly suffer without them. Not because they're "better" supporters but because people look to 111 to lead the singing (just look at the Inter Milan game - a game the group didn't attend - where people from surrounding sections congregated in 111 to lead the singing).

Wow, you made 3 seperate points and I strongly disagree with all 3. Are you the anti-me?

Lawwell is doing his job. As CEO of a PLC, it's his job to make Celtic as profitable as possible for the shareholders. The problem is not Lawwell, who has done a very good job, but our status as a PLC that inevitably forces us to make money the most important thing (rather than one consideration out of several).

Lawwell's stance towards the GB needs to be fought tooth and nail: it's part of a long process of corporate culture ripping the heart and soul out of football clubs. Politics has always been a part of football and I hope it always will. Why do people keep saying politics has no place in football? Why the * not? What you're essentially saying is that the politics of resistance has no place in football, because the establishment will still continue to force its politics down our throat at football.

Lawwell is paid to put money first, but luckily he's not an idiot and knows fine well the relationship between on-field performance and profit. Look at the players we have bought and been linked with: we're sticking to our model but they were all more expensive than the last cycle: we're making progress. It's true that we are weaker than last year, our model inevitably has troughs as well as peaks. The progresss is there to be seen, though. You can't just go out and replace players like Vic and Hooper on our bidget. It's just not that easy. Regarding Hooper, we have had several targets- so far nothing doing, but that is hardly a case of Lawwell not releasing funds! There's still time for us to get someone in. Regards Vic it is clear we are changing style and will not be playing a Wanyama style player this year. Plenty of clubs don't. I guess we maily did because we happened to have such an exceptional player for that position.

The board didn't gamble and lose last night: we had more than enough quality to comfortably beat that team. The blame lies with the players and the coaching staff. It's not the board's fault that we didn't play a proper striker. Whether you think he can cut it in the CL or not, Stokes is more than good enough against teams like that. Lawwell will be as distraught as anyone at not going through.

Much though I think his treatment of the GB is outrageous and hate the fact that we are a PLC, I am convinced Lawwell wants what he believes to be best for this club. You can be sure he could make more money elsewhere.
