For the very first time in 45 years of supporting this team I feel let down by the Club. Not the manager, not the players, but the Club. To go into this match without a centre forward is nothing short of negligent, nothing more and nothing less.

I am not looking for the club to spend funny money-we are an educated support that understand the financial limitations imposed upon us-just to re-spend the Hooper money. If they want to bank the Wanyama money, fine, but to bank the Hooper money as well is disgraceful. Heck we could have gone to the English Championship or even League One and bought the top scorer there. We knew Hooper was leaving. We should have bought his replacement before he left, or immediately after.

With the amount of chances we typically create in a game we just need a proven goalscorer. It matters less what league he is playing in.

Today the Board gambled and lost big time. The chances we missed were all from midfielders. How can we go into a CL game without a striker. it defies belief. The Club's management badly short changed the support today and have a lot to answer for. If they are going to take credit for the good times they need to hold up their hands and admit mistakes. Today was a huge error, a massive self inflicted wound. I'd like to see, at a minimum, some admittance of this failure from the Club, some contrition on their part, some apology.

It's mental to think that we went into this game with a squad that was no stronger than the squad who scraped past Elfsborg.

    Shocking from the board.

How do you know that someone like say, Finnbogason, hasn't just rejected us.

    Pukki - Huntelaar got injured.
Arnautovic - Had £3.5 million bid accepted but he rejected the move.

Sounds like people said no rather than the board not 're-investing'

If we don't sign someone good before the 2nd leg, and we go out, then I have defended Peter Lawwell for the last time. I'm actually quite disgusted by our transfer activity, or rather lack of activity, this summer.

Get the * cheque book out ya tight fisted *. The cupboard is far from bare.

We've known Hooper was going since January, really.

Therefore we've had 7 months to find a suitable replacement, yet we've still failed to sign someone. Pathetic.

Spot on, Lawwell is the worst thing to ever have happened to our club imo, he's the 21st century desmond white

A gamble not worth taking, don't know how they will make this up. Season ticket sales will plummet next season after this shenanigans.

Boring to watch at the best of times. Take away the CL, the GB and weakening the team drastically and what are the incentives to buy a season ticket ?

A lot of trust has been lost tonight, and it will be hard for the board to regain it.

    Is that right?

Oh well then. What will be will be.

I just hope the board will be satisfied with themselves when they look around Celtic Park in December/January time and see crowds of 25,000. That's what we'll be looking at if we have no Champions League football and no challenge in the league.

I suppose they can always retire to the warmth of the boardroom, pour themselves a few expensive cognacs, peruse their healthy balance sheet and tell themselves what a fabulous job they're doing. Meanwhile the fans can pay over the odds for tickets, get ripped off at the kiosks, wear the bogging new home strip, miss the atmosphere that used to exist and watch meaningless fixtures. Sounds good.

I'm sure I've said this here recently, so sorry if I'm repeating myself.

I remember seeing an interview with Hartson recently where he said that standing beside Larsson before a game, he knew that there was no reason to fear any team we were playing against. We had a quality player in Larsson who was more than a match for any team we came up against.

I think that the current side probably had a similar faith in Wanyama and Hooper. And now that they're gone, as well as Kelvin who had become dependable in his role in the last year, there is a gap in those areas of the team where once there was a player you knew was going to be at least on par with anyone you were playing.

It's be a tough position for the guys who are still there. They could feel weakened as a unit and a result the whole team will struggle to perform the way that we were used to seeing during last seasons Champions League campaign.

That being said, we should be beating a team like Shaktyor with ease. And if the loss of a couple of key players is one of the main reasons that we're failing to meet expectations, then the players involved should take a long hard look at themselves and realise that every one of them were part of that fantastic run and they can do it again this year.

I agree that one or two signings could give them the confidence boost they need, hopefully we get one in before the second leg.

Absolutely * off with Gamble. FC.

Seen it too many times over the years now, and playing a team who have said it's the best result in their history without a recognised striker is just.....embarrassing tbh.

I've been a fan of his for the last couple of yeas but my patience with Lawwell is quickly running out.

The fact that we have raked in tens of millions yet refused to splash a reasonable amount is disgraceful.

Can't disagree with the sentiment. It's fine selling players you have developed for multiples of what you bought them for. What is absolutely criminal, however, is not reinvesting that into the next wave of players in order to reach the only competition we HAVE to be in, in order to continue progressing.

There are far too many bells and whistles with the club just now and very little tangible effort to progress on the park and it is down to one thing, the club thought they would ease into the group stages whilst ripping the spine of the team out at the same time. The logic is crucially flawed.

I'm getting a bit * off now with the Gamble.FC approach from our club over the years.

I couldn't agree more, I could see this result coming a mile away, actually we were marginally better than the elfsborg game but that's besides the point. Nobody's expecting us to be world beaters but to get well beaten by a team 3rd in the Kazakhstan league is a * joke with the amount of money we've raked in in the past year. The usual story just showing absolutely no ambition when it comes to investing in the team, I wouldn't mind but if we spent say 4 million on a striker which is all most people would have asked, that players value would probably have increased if anything and would be a valuable asset financially as well as football wise. It never crosses Lawells mind that if our team is better we have a better chance of getting into the group stages in the first place and ultimately making more money anyway. Stevie wonder could have seen we needed players after we just about scraped past elfsborg who lets be honest like shaktar were a poor poor team.

100% agree with you but the same board let me down in the last Window WGS was here. and we gave the Zombies a life line then and lost out on Millions. And it looks like it could happen again but losing out on 20 million but not replacing 3/4 of the spine of our side with a bit of quality.
