I said it earlier mate, they are total * to deal with in the market and they think all their players are worth 3 and 4 times what they actually are.

I don't give a * about him being fat or skinny or gay and baldy. The fact is he plays for a * team in a * league. He's a * player as well. We're in the group stages of the champions league ffs, in what way is this silly * going to make us better than we currently are?

Cracking player.get him signed.barca,ac Milan, ajax will be shaking in their boots if big Tomlin comes through the park head gates.if he fits through that is pmsl.but on a serious note he would tear the SPL up,35 goals a season easy.

He has to face facts though mate. Does he really think he's going to wander off the wee stadium in Peterborough into the group stages of the champions league at the San Siro?

According to Darren Ferguson we have had 3 bids rejected.

    ***********

Peterborough United have rejected three bids from Celtic for forward Lee Tomlin.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson confirmed the Scottish champions have so far failed in their approach for the player, who was substituted at half-time during his side's 2-0 loss to Crawley Town on Saturday.

Ferguson said news of Celtic's interest unsettled the 24-year-old, with one bid being made while his side were on the pitch.

"The third bid arrived during the game," he told the Peterborough Telegraph. "If that’s how Celtic want to do business that’s up to them, but it didn’t do Lee any favours.

"I’m not angry at Celtic, I’m just stating the facts and people can make their own minds up about what’s gone on.

"The first bid they made was a waste of time anyway. They can’t have watched him much over the past few years if that’s all they think it’s worth.

"He’s not going anywhere anyway and he knows that. We have great experience of clubs bidding for our players and they never leave after one bid."

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony also criticised the approach on Twitter.

"I used to bee a Celtic fan," he said. "Not after today. What a day."

Tomlin moved to Peterborough United from Rushden and Diamonds in 2010 and has made 138 appearances, scoring 39 times.

He netted a hat-trick against Reading in the League Cup in midweek, taking his tally this season to six in seven games.

    * does that even mean? Was he informed of the bid by the stadium announcer or something?

I said he's not fat and would be on a diet, basically saying that it would be sorted anyway if he came here so it's not a problem regardless. I also said that he's no better than what we've got and his price is too high.

All I said different to what you said was that if Lennon thinks he's good enough then we'll stick with it and see how it goes, I highly doubt that we will sign him regardless of all this, we're clearly aiming higher than this guy by signing a young Israeli with bundles of potential, a young striker who's scored in the Bundesliga, and now looking at a potentially great player to loan from Manchester United, I wouldn't worry about this anyway.

Totally agree mate, not at all what we all want us to go for. Would much rather give youth a chance instead of this lad.

May not have been a Champions League player but John Hartson carried quite a bit extra weight.

You wouldnt have a Hartson V2 at the clubs? (not comparing this guy to Hartson, just making the point that some overweight players are good)

Lighten up ffs,he is obviously only being targeted for the league games,if stokes gets injured again only leaves blade, pukke will be or champs league striker and will only play selected games in the league.nearly every player starts at a lower level so don't see what the big deal is.

Off course they can, if Messi put on 3 stone tonight he would still walk into our team.

It's all about levels though, and an overweight league 1 player is a very different proposition from an overweight Hartson.

We are too quick to dismiss players from lower leagues. The boy is a good player for Peterborough and he has scored some very good goals. Just because he plays in a lower league doesn't make him a bad player. Tomlin could thrive in a Celtic shirt.

Hartson had played for Arsenal, West Ham and Wimbledon in the top flight with quite a bit of success

This guy will be a shrewd buy IMO. I've seen him a lot in last year.

He would be a good player to have in squad. Far more effective and useable than McCourt was for example

The big deal is the constant stream of * we hear about players "tearing up the SPL." To suggest Tomlin would score 35 a season here no problem is absolute idiocy.
