Just to explain to Doire Bhoy. I use the term "splash the cash" in a light hearted manner. I am a fan of prudent spending and having a good business model. I just hope we spend money on targets needed now, I admire our good model and I especially admire how German clubs do their business. I have been their and know first hand from visiting their stadia etc. Our chief exec. runs a good ship and I am a fan even if he has his critics to say the least. By the way, as a fan of Cork City I have at great times with Derry City fans, respect to you and Doire.

No bother. I wasn't attacking you personally - it's just that that term has been over-used in the past few weeks, including by some whose idea of "splashing cash" is neither prudent nor a good model.

Umm, excuse me? Maybe some of you are not aware of how big the step from the Finnish league to the German Bundesliga is... When Pukki joined Schalke his merits were from the Finnish league, which is a very weak league (this year in the UCL and UEL playoffs Finnish clubs all lost in the first round against clubs from Luxembourg, Faroe Islands and Estonia).

After that he has scored 8 Bundesliga goals and proven to be able to play on that level. His value should have at least doubled with this.

Your posts have been great mate but I can't agree with this.

He fully deserved his move to Schalke for what was it, £1.2 million? However since he's been in Germany he has been a sub for the vast majority of the time. Plus, he has one year left on his contract which takes his value down more.

The most we should be paying for him is about £2 million.

Well, I agree that 3M sounds a bit high, but something like 2,5M does not. And 2,5M would mean that his value has indeed doubled, like I said it should have.

Just very hard to agree with some people, who seem to think that Pukki's value hasn't increased at all during his stay in Germany; that a top player in the Finnish league can have the same transfer value as a decent substitute player at a major club in the Bundesliga, the world's best league. It just doesn't work like that...

Look at it this way - what was Hoopers actual value Vs how much we sold him for due to having 1 year left!

The manager clearly doesn't fancy the player and as such his club should be looking to sell now instead of losing for nada in Jan when he can sign a pre-contract!!!

Never realised that Finnish football was at such a low level. That is grim stuff to be losing to teams from those nations.

Maybe one day you will get to be good enough so your teams can lose to sides from the likes of Kazakhstan and Belarus:icon_mrgreen:

I would like us to get Pukki but I still feel we would need another striker who is more prolific.

I don't know what is more strange, the song or the fact the video is an hour and a half long :97:
