I first heard of him, when he was strongly linked with United and then it all went quiet around him, but I was definitely very pleased we were able to get on a free a player of such potential to be scouted by top teams in England. His defensive positioning is improving, which is great to see as I felt that was probably his major weakness last season.

Top player, gets his head down, puts the work in and can only improve. Boy will be a top fullback.

One of the best under 21 full backs in Europe. I have no doubt about that.

Great full back, hope he sticks around for a number of years.

Considering Alan Hutton went to Spurs for £9m we could be onto a lump sum with Matthews!

Couldn't agree more. Matthews is now pushing Forrest for the most exciting/valuable youngster imo.

Apparently he's fit for Wales tonight... I would urge them to take precaution with him.

while of course being baised towards Celtic being a massive fan an all, i'm just excited about the fact that we seem to have one best young squads around right now.

guys like Forster, Rogne, Matthews, Wanyama, Ambrose (so far), Forrest, Dylan, Watt even Hooper and Stokes together i'd put in there good core of young players there that make up the majority of our starting 11 then there are the older guys but only by a year or so in Mulgrew, Ledley, Sammy, Brown, Izzy, Kayal even Wilson is getting into gear aswell

I would urge the Welsh hierarchy to recognise they put themselves in danger of getting (repeatedly) * with a rake should this be a risk with Mr Matthews that backfires in terms of injury.

The rake will also have a plethora of splinters, it should be noted. And no lube on it.

Yeah - and lo and behold, who has the lunchtime kick off?:87:

Gives us all of about 8 * minutes to get the guys prepared.

Is a bit ridiculous, in truth.

Really like Matthews. Astonishingly consistent for his age, and obviously willing to put in the work to improve which is arguably the most important thing (like Forster that attribute has endeared me to him a lot). Having Danny McGrain in amongst the first team will surely help him immensely. Imo he's improved a lot defensively in the last season. Going forward he was already very impressive. :50:

He lost his place in the team for me yesterday, just totally unwilling to attack, unbelieveable the amount of times he passed it backwards - would probably have broke Barry Fergusons record for backpassing and he * one up and cost a goal.

Lustig is no1 for me now and hopefully Lennon.

    Have to agree.

Was just something about him yesterday that * me off - and I'm a big Matthews fan.

Heir Hitler is now no.1 choice at RB now I must admit.
