Yip. This sort of stuff needs talked about.

Suicide is the biggest killer among men aged 18-35. Quite shocking statistic.

  2. Gonna give this a watch, just started on bbc three.

  3. Missed it last night, will it be on iplayer? Am still gutted about Gary Speed.

Depression isn't taken seriously enough, too many people dismiss it and use terms such as 'Man up and get on with it'. Hopefully programmes like this will make more sufferers speak about it and more people understand it.

  4. It's on the Iplayer now.

I hope the programme makes people take notice of depression & those who have depression get the help they need.

  5. Good watch. Clarke Carlisle comes a across a good guy. Hope he finds something now that he is retired from football. Would be sad if he got depression again. He used to be an alcoholic as well.

Thought Carlisle came across well as well. He was very honest and talked a lot of sense.

I actually despise Carlisle for some reason. He done another documentary for BBC 3 a while back, something about homosexuals in football and the fact nobody talks about it and keeps it hidden.

Its not a personal thing - he just annoys me. How was he in this documentary, might give it a watch as the topic is quite riveting.

  8. I have listened to Clarke Carlisle quite a few times in the past year and he does come across as a very intelligent guy and talks sense. He will be involved in football for a good while, whether it be head of the players union or someone to talk to regarding depression, addiction etc.

  9. I've seen a few documentaries including Carlisle - comes across as an honest big *...........quite likeable too.

Was he the footballer that was on Countdown by any chance? :97:

watched some of it credit to Clark for being open and honest about his personal problems

  11. Just watched it and thought it was really good.Clark was excellent I thought.Hope footballers who suffer with depression get the help they need.
I think after what happened with Gary Speed its less of a taboo for men which is a really positive thing to come from something so tragic.
On a personal note, the death of Gary Speed made me look for help as I'd bottled up my feelings for years. The guy was a hero of mine growing up and it shocked me to the core when I heard of his suicide. Its strange to think that a hero of mine helped me make a massive decision from his death.

  12. I think he was on countdown aye. He was on question time a couple of times.

  13. Respect mate :50:

Hope all goes well for ya :shamrock:

I think the match day pressure and being seen as an idol by the fans can be just too much for some, that and the fact they have loads of spare time in between training and games, but at the end of the day these guys are human and can crack like the rest of us

  16. Yeah i thought so as well....
