Peter Martin on Radio Clyde has just said there will be news on Clyde tomorrow regarding Craig Bellamy and Celtic.
His final comment was "watch this space".

peter martin knows his stuff i trust that guy. but he also said that no one was to get their hopes up, unlike what his fellow blue nose pundits did to the rangers fans. he said that celtic are interested in bellamy, bellamy would be interested in coming to celtic, the fee is not a problem its his salary is the problem, so i woodnt expect the news on bellers tmrw to be anything more than we already know

Peter Martin said last week that wages were not a problem, it was the asking price from Liverpool that Celtic did not like. The quotes have been from £6m to £9m in different papers etc. If it was nearer the £6m I think we could get him.

I agree, surely a player who is on the bench most weeks should not be valued by his team at 7,8,9 million. If we get him I would be ecstatic to say the least.

    Ha,

    You all have short memories,

This is a guy who came to Celtic to work his ticket back into the EPL.
Had his chance to play for us but chose Blackburn over the famous Glasgow Celtic, chose a club that even Barry Ferguson didn’t even want to stay at.
    * sake what are you all talking about I cant remember him ever staying fit for a whole season in his life and you guys want to spend 6mill plus and pay the we * another 6mill in wages.
We would be very unlikely to make our money back if he doesn’t work out because lets face it after his Newcastle incident his golf club incident and then if he didn’t light up the * SPL this time around who in there right mind would buy him off us?

Attitude problem + Injury prone = 1.5 mil tops

    Not 6mil + wages

The one good thing I will say about him is that when he is fit he always looks like a boy that just wants to win.

    Rant over

    (for now anayway)

Got to take issue with that mate. We couldn't pay £6M of GS's 7M budget on him in GS's first season that's why he left Celtic. He had no choice but to leave:celt_2::shamrock:

It was 5mil at the time we had first refusal, we made an offer and WGS wouldn’t sign magic until he new for sure Bellamy was going to Blackburn.

That’s pretty much the way it went down, we offered him a contract he chose Blackburn.

    Look at this:

    http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2088549,00.html

It that's official than Benitez is dafter than I thought. 12 million quid for the Welsh troll? :97: Who's gonna pay that much? Or doesn't Benitez want to sell him at all and that's just his way of telling the wide world to * off?

At the time Newcastle accepted our bid as they just wanted rid, Permission was granted to open contract negotiations I thought this was common knowledge.

    Celtic & Blackburn Rovers

He scored nine goals for Celtic in the remainder of the season. He was part of the squad that went onto win the Scottish Cup, his first career trophy. The club were keen to sign him permanently, but on 7 July 2005 it was announced that he was to return to the Premiership with Blackburn Rovers for a transfer fee rumoured to be between £2.5 million and £5 million. He signed a four year contract

he dident work his ticket,as u put it,,and dident chose blackburn over celtic,,he chose blackburn because, they are in a better leauge, that play in a more competive leauge, not because they are better that celtic,,he said celtic are a massive ,special, amazing club,,he went to blackburn because ,he dident fancy glasgow,,the spl is pish, and wants to play in spain,as its warmer there,

how do i know this ? because he told me himself, when he was at celtic

Sorry u don’t really make sense,
“dident chose blackburn over celtic,,he chose blackburn because”

So did he choose Blackburn or not my contradictive friend?

His reason for not choosing Celtic must still be relevant is it not?
Why do most of the people who post on this forum want a player who wasn’t interested in playing for our great club only a few years ago when he was given the opportunity?

Why is this so many peoples first choice buy?

And how on earth would it be good business to pay 6mil plus for him?

every post you have made on this thread has only been backed up by articles you have read in the papers you don't really personally know the ins and outs of it all and saying he should never set foot in parkhead because he chose blackburn crazy.
I agree that 6mill would be far to much for bellamy but even that is hearsay at the moment as well

What I don’t understand is why so many people think that he is the answer.

Especially at what would be an over inflated price.

Hypothetically speaking for example it cost 6mil to buy him and I’m sure u agree that his wage demands would be quite high say 40,000 a week?

I would rather if we were going to spend that kind of money we go for someone else with a better track record.

For the record every post on this thread is based on speculation not one person has an independent source that says Bellamy is interested.
It’s all been from the media!

When we tried to sign him before I had it from a very good source inside Celtic park that we done everything we could to sign him and he opted not to.
I never said he should not step foot inside Celtic Park because of his choice I'm just not convinced it's for the best.

That's my opinion and you can't tell me what my opinion is.
