Dogs are just random wee * like people I think.

    Good eggs and bad ones.

I have been bit by a Rottweiler and also have known one that is probably scared of ants

I agree with this to an extent. Saying 'It all depends on the owner' is like saying 'It's all the parents fault' when commenting on a criminal. Maybe that dog/person is just a vicious *?

    Here we go again :smiley-laughing002:

My sig isn't to lay claim to anything, just incase it looks that way. I am still learning things about them. There's just a * load of Akitas in the UK & Ireland always looking for homes. It's just advertising the charities that help basically.

    Anyway, back to the subject.

What do you find more intimidating.... two folk walking rottweilers or a gang of folk hanging about on the streets ?

Haha I've no reason to hate them other than the one that used to chase me near enough every day and wasted a right few games of football by bursting the ball. Bawbag of a dog it was

That very nice of you, I would have thought there is not that many around that need re-homing? Is it a bit problem? People taking it on without understanding the breed?

I done that with my Malamute, I didnt fully understand it but I have accommodated its traits and needs pretty well since.

I personally have a phobia of Rotts, I was almost bitten as a kid.

Im telling ye, training these big dogs is easy. its my we lhasa apsos that are solid :56: If i want a pair of ma socks, i just look in the garden. 1 of them does everything a say, the other likes to do the opposite lol Must say, i like small dogs my self. Wanted a pug but dont like how you cant walk them far in the heat.

Heres the we gits when a first got them.

We moved past the petty squabbles ? :86:

A don't know why it is tbh. Probably is that yes, folk just see this little teddy bear looking pup not realising they get so big, unlike mine. Then they need a lot of exercise, not as much as a husky or malamute but still a fair bit.

Basically the modern day Staffy. A hike in popularity has led to them becoming easy to get and cheap as well if you buy from someone who isn't a proper breeder. Then once they're in a shelter or foster home they are hard to find homes due to the bad reputation gained through the media. People only hear there name mentioned when topics like the OP come up in the news.

I would love a malamute but it's daunting the amount of walking they need. I walk mine a minimum 1 1/2 - 2 hours per day, up to maybe 3 hours and that's knackering enough. Would love a Chow Chow as well... cutest dogs going. Don't know that much about them though. Read a few bits saying they are kind of like a cat, don't crave attention, quite independent which might not be a bad thing.

Dobermans are the ones that frighten me. They have this look as if they can see into your soul.

well given that he owns an Akita, im guessing he's probably researched the breed and knows more about them than you sitting up there on your judgemental high horse.

And by the way, a quick google search will give you many sources telling you Akitas are very loyal dogs and are very good with families.

The words: "Dangerous Dog breeds" annoys me tbh!, There is no such thing as a dangerous dog breed; only a poor dog handler!
